As soon as he tripled his quad, adding a combo was the right move, unless he thought very quickly with his lutz. Had he landed a solo 3T BEFORE a 3lz-3T combination, the combination is ENTIRELY discounted as he would do the element in two different jumping passes, and you can't do that in the short program (3T-3T is okay). That he only added a single jump means he gets -3 for the combination, of course, but better lose those points than two of the four jumps entirely. He could've added a double toe to his lutz, but I can't imagine thinking through something like that that quickly.

Use eyedrops.
Unfortunately, unless he gets some outside input for artistry, posture, etc. I'm not sure this will change under King Zadrajek.
It won't help. It's a Lv7 hunchback. It has the power to turn into stone like a Basilisk's Gaze.
Sadly that's true.
He is a great jumper, skates with quite a lot of power but the PCS part leaves a lot to be desired.
To me he is just a tad bit too much. He could tone down some movements, which were too rigid.

Turning your 4Toe into a 3Toe is pretty much the worst mistake you can make. The zayak monster gets really, really mad and eats you whole.

Agree. He had to hold on for a few things, but I see a huge improvement from Nationals.

Kovtun...well. First, #menshovwuzrobbed, and second, even Gachinski's total meltdown disaster of an SP last year scored higher than that. Bye bye, two spots for Russia. Happy now, Russian Fed?

Well, Nan Song got through it, but it had its shaky moments. I'm not sure Han Yan wouldn't have done worse, under the pressure of running with the big guns.
