2014 Olympics Ladies Free Skate

If Koreans are so opposed to a home advantage, there is no reason why Adelina should not win as long as she delivers the best performance.

Haha.. They may be against it, but they will hold a long-time grudge. And even though it is not her fault that the judging was so, she is the only visible target that they will have. I don't think they will go as far as to affect judging, but you can be sure the crowd will be... well... pretty much like the Russian crowd at Sochi to everybody not Russian.

With the amount of young teenage girls coming up in Russia I would be shocked if Adelina and Julia make it to 2018 especially Julia. The way Julia skates she might need a hip replacement in couple of months and the technique that she uses for jumps are so poor that I can't see her skating past 18. She could be another Tara Lipinski without the gold but with the hip issues and all.

I think the Koreans might start boo-ing Adelina when she takes the ice.

I don't know how she's gonna fare in next month's worlds. She might chicken out. I have a feeling Julia might win next month as sort of a revenge. I see Gracie taking bronze here.

Gosh, I hope not! That would reflect so badly on skating fans and on Korea. But I have faith in them. They will let Adelina do her best and will treat her courteously.
Well, if I remember South Korea's 2002 World Cup scandal correctly (yup, it's soccer it's not figure skating, but it's also sport, you know), there might not be a chance they would stay decent. After all, Olympic has to be held up somewhere.

Historically, whenever Koreans hosted a major event, they had excellent reputations. World Cup 2002, Olympics in the 80s.

Adelina won't be so lucky in Pyeongchang. Who knows what's going to happen in 4 years. I don't think any of the non-Yuna Korean talent will become podium contenders in 2018, so no real conflict of interest for the Korean audiences anyway.

Why do they mock figure skating fans like this?!?! I am done with figure skating. Bye.
Why did you post this? You said bye a few days ago yet your still here insulting everyone. Not one positive thing to share. Did you not even see the beauty of Yuna's skate? Can you not share one moment of enjoyment? I read every single one of your posts. They are all hateful things towards Russians and Figure skating and Lipinski's plastic face. What are you doing?

For those who believe Adelina deserved the gold:

This is a great graph on the rise of the PCS scores for the ladies.

This is a good article. Commentators like Scott Hamilton and Sandra Bezic needs to speak up. If they don't, they're part of the problem.

Nobody in all of skating had a bigger rise in pcs than hanyu.

Hanyu was also hugged by a judge!

Double standard Russia bashing and bigotry and Yuna fans going insane and nuts and forum ruining disgraces!

Why is everyone so surprised that Adelina's PCS went up during the Olympics? Hello, does anyone remember how Adelina skated before the Olympics? Here's one reminder of how badly Adelina skated leading up to the Olympics at the 2013 GPF: http://youtu.be/2OY7vLn8YEc Whereas, during the Olympics LP, Adelina skated a much cleaner and polished program.

It is perfectly normal for skaters to receive higher PCS during competitions in which they perform better! Adelina's best performances were during the Olympics, which is why her scores were highest in Sochi. Plus, it is the Olympics--it's very normal for judges to give higher scores during high-profile events like the Olympics....this is typical Olympic inflation.

Now, you could argue that Adelina doesn't deserve 9s in components like choreography and interpretation. In that case, I completely agree with you....but that is a completely different argument entirely. Showing a graph that merely shows a rise in PCS across different competitions proves nothing except that Sotnikova receives higher scores when she skates better. Hardly controversial stuff, no?

Yuna too clutch for that. Said she was nervous before the short program, but 100% ready for the long. :)

Adelina was not just over-scored in PCS, she was given breaks by the tech caller afforded to no other skaters (except maybe Julia), which in turn let the judges give some ridiculous GoE.

She definitely did NOT win fair and square. The judging was not her fault, but saying she won fair and square is FALSE.

Regardless of what the sport needs. if there is a conspiracy, it needs to be exposed. There are just too many things to question (Julia and Adelina's inflated scores - both PCS AND TES -i.e.Adelina's apparent flutz and definite UR on the same element. how can you say Adelina won fair and square when she would have almost lost almost her whole lead on that alone)? Judges were incredibly generous on GOE for Julia too. With the ridiculously stated number of 3s both Russian skaters received (Adelina 33 and Julia 27 next closest was Yuna at 13), the questions concerning the composition of the technical panel - the Russian Technical caller and the Russian Assistant Tech caller (ex-skating coach), the disgraced Ukrainian judge, the wife of the Russian Ice Federation President, Adelina's hug after with that same official... the list goes on an on... every day something new is found....

Russia was going to win a Gold in the Ladies'. if not Julia, then Adelina. This was pre-ordained, not by ability, but by conspiracy.

I take it back. That was probably not phrased right. She did not win fair and square, in my eyes it could have gone either way. I guess had she won by a small marigin, that would be ok with me.

Sotnikova should have been 3rd or 4th. "Had she won by a small margin it would've been okay" GOD NO.
