2014 Olympics Ladies Free Skate

I saw tons of cheering for Kim. And Sotnikova's Skating skills are very good.

She got cheers all right once she finished, There are still fans out there,
But you can visibly see rows and rows of people sitting bored, and the voices when she was in the Kiss and cry and When she had the one not smooth landing where very annoying,
Why only one FS deserves a crazy standing ovation when we got at least four worthy of that last night ?
Kostner's was even more quiet, That's the first time i see her blow a kiss and almost dead silence

Once again a lot of us love watching a skater JUMP INTO their jump. Those jumps are big, and they were clearly controlled with speed coming in and out...
Exactly what I want to say, one of the reason I prefer Male single event, because of the jump. It's sport you know. Too bad Plushy pulled out, and too many falls.

petition for opening investigation judging decisions.

I have no problem with Sotnikova winning, but honestly the score they give to their fellow russian skaters are way too generous.
Lipnitskaya fell and her scores were almost at level with Gracie Gold? I mean come on! Even though Gracie fell, she picked herself up better than Lip.
Both of the russian skaters were technically good, but the artistry components shouldn't be scored THAT high.
Kostner was much much better in terms of that too. Shame on the judges, you think people wouldn't notice how much home advantage you're giving??? URgh.

To Mao:

The moment you finished your skate and your tears slid down your face, I almost cried with you. It has been a hard few years and yesterday must have been crushing. I am so happy to have seen you today skating freely, having shaken off what heaviness that must have burdened you. Thank you for being the beautiful skater that you are.

To Yuna:

You are sublime. When you skated tonight it was as if the world grew quiet so it too could slide along the ice with you. Being only a selfish human, I wish we could keep you, but now we must let you go. It has been a privilege to have been witness to your beginning, your growth, and now to these two final programs that are your parting gift. Thank you.

To Gracie:

When Michelle Kwan retired, I retired from watching skating. There was no one for me to enjoy and cheer for. Then two wonderful girls named Mao and Yuna pulled me back. Now faced with their retirement, I thought about who I had left to watch. Tonight, you have convinced me to stay. I look forward to seeing you continue to grow and hope to celebrate the moments when you too, will boldly claim your place among your skating heroes.

I love this tweet by John Coughlin:

If this is to be Mao Asada's last event, get to a TV and soak it in. Regardless of outcome, she is a legend. Mao and Yuna go hand in hand.

Yeah like Sotnikova is the only one with big jumps. Kim and Kostner's are just as big and superior in pretty much every other aspect. Sotnikova's jumps also dont have control compared to the other top skaters and take off and landings are usually fugly, with much flawed technique. I know you love Adelina to death so are blind when watching her, but there is a reason her win is creating a bigger outcry than the biggest of Chan's victories (which of course you went on for months about even though this one which is far worse you will defend with about 3 others vs thousands who oppose it ).
Kim's jumps were not as difficult, TES scores show that. I love Kostner and would love her to win the gold despite her age, I was holding my breaths whenever she executed the jumps, but her jumps were not big and superior, maybe because she's 27 now. It's good that she's happy with bronze, I love her so much.

Sandra was saying that Yuna was spectacular. Sandra was very emotional. Then she said the system might not let her get those points to win because she had less difficulties. It sounded like they taped some of those comments after the results.

You know.. I got the same impression when I watched. The comments did sound as though they were taped after the results.

And Yuna and Caro don't have flying big jumps that are controlled and coming out with the same speed and flows? :jaw:

Well Gracie also fell, and Julia is more flexible, I think their scores are fair. Coudln't blame Julia for all the stress she's been put on, she's still a 15 year-old-kid. I actually enjoyed her performance. Her FS is solid, if not for the fall.

Love your post.

And Yuna and Caro don't have flying big jumps that are controlled and coming out with the same speed and flows? :jaw:

Kostner's jumps in some places looked scratchy. Yu-na got higher GOE for her lutz. and her Adelina were almost tied on the 3flip.

In terms of the 3salchow, many have commented that Kim's 3sal is not a particularly great jump for her. And there's the notes between the New York Times between Yu-na's easy double axel/2toe and Adelina double axel/3toe. Not only easier but said it was an easy entrance. Adelina has the best double axel/3toe in the world.

Once again both Kim and Sotnikova are going to get high GOE on the jumps. However Sotnikova is also going to get high GOE on her spins.

And Yuna and Caro don't have flying big jumps that are controlled and coming out with the same speed and flows? :jaw:

Not to mention Sotnikova's jumps are NOT controlled, and are in fact sloppy. There is really no impressive aspect to them besides the height, but they arent even the highest jumps either. She also doesnt carry much distance or flow out.

If former skaters like Sandra Bezic, Tara Lipinski, Johnny Weir and Scott Hamilton do not speak up, they're part of the problem. They're letting this corruption happen because they're being cowards resting on their past accomplishments. I'm glad that former skaters like Katarina Witt, Kurt Browning and Dick Button have enough guts to speak up. Fans, skaters and coaches need to unite and fight this corruption. Our skaters dedicate their lives spending thousands of dollars sacrificing their young lives for a dream of going to the Olympics and winning the gold. What kind of message are we sending to our young skaters? Russia obviously do not have enough confidence in themselves. They cannot wait for a true champion to arrive.

Yawn, here we go again. Those mean awful judges. Bad judging when your favorite does not win, good judging if they do. Happens in every Olympics.
Adelina had the technical edge and thus she won. Plus she skated like she wanted to be there. all smiles and happy. I don't particularly like her style of skating but she won fair and square.
Yuna on the other hand was clean and beautiful but she did not look like she wanted to be there. Kind of just going threw the motions and I thought her Free Skate was boring. It had no oomph and bad chorography.
Caroline I enjoyed the most but she did not have the technical difficulty that she had in the short, which I thought was breathtaking. I am so happy for her that she finally got a Olympic medal.
The skater I am most impressed with is Polina Edmonds. I think she was the one underscored. Being her 1st International Competition and the Olympics besides, she skated beautifully with only the one fall. She and Gracie should have a good rivalry going in the coming years. I also have to hand it Mao for coming back and skating like she did in free skate. She knew she could not medal but she gave it her all and that makes her a winner in my books.

I agree with every single thing you say. Everything.
