2014 Trophée Eric Bompard Ladies SP 11/21

I just don't understand the overscoring of these little girls. You go to a ballet school. The girls in the junior corps are talented but gawky, out of balance, etc.. No one thinks they are prima ballerinas. Not so in figure skating whre they semed to get much of their score based on the fact they weigh 40 kg and bend like a pretzel. An iinfant can put their foot in their mouth. What does that have to do with anything? It's a dark period in skating in my opinion.

Ashley's 3loop has me worried. That was always such a solid jump for her. Her hair has me a bit scared  But good skate for her!
And yay Elena and Yulia!!! I can't wait for the long :)

And what in the world is wrong with Ashley's loop. I've always thought it was her best jump, but now she's always UR it..... ugh

Radionova is so bubbly! She reminds me of Olga Korbut.

Holy crap they actually judged Lipnitskaia decently. I for sure thought they would give her like 34 PCS.

Let's be real here... Radionova and Lipnitskaia were about on par in terms of how they presented their programs... Julia's slightly more artistic (as the PCS reflected)... IMO Radionova had more fire and attack though. They both had excellent spins with about the same GOE (Lip's spins have been sharper in the past though). Radionova had a 3Z+3T to Julia's 3T+3T.

So a slight lead over Lipnitskaia makes sense, and neither of them deserved 70 points for their SP so I don't think anyone should be up in arms at this result.

Her PB PCS is about 33 (inflated times). So 34 look a bit extreme. But I agree with your points why Elena deserve to be higher just a bit.

Who should be leading then? Ashley had 2 UR's.

She had to get high PCS since they gave such high PCS to Hicks and there is no comparison between the two. I mean Hicks is only 7 points behind Elana in PCS marks. The judges seem to see something in Hicks that I just do not get.

Cesario behind Hicks on PCS ??? Did not see the skates but this is very strange, unless Samantha had a very rough skate.

Even through the icenetwork vid, Sammi was visibly as lot slower than Courtney. And I've got to say, Courtney's choreographer picked some great music and choreo to highlight her power and speed. And Courtney delivered it with conviction and menace. I loved it! Well other than wishing she didn't fall ;) I'm not complaining about her score or placing. I'm just happy she's got a vehicle that she likes to skate to. :)

ETA And looking at her bio, I see that her choreographer is Jonathon Cassar! I need to go look for that unheralded choreographers thread! :cheer: to Jonathon!!

Personally I always thought her 3F was her best jump, the first one in her LP at 2014 Worlds, wonderful

Only with a silver, but she would need a perfect skate and a botched skate for lipnitskaya.

Assuming Lip and Radio make it, that means it will be those two, plus Tukt and Pogo. Who will be 5th and 6th if not Ashley and someone else if she wins bronze here? I think Ashley still has an excellent chance.

Has Ashley always had this much trouble with UR's? They are killing her.

She can do the 3Lo better than she did today. She doesn't usually get URs on that one, but lately she has gotten a couple. They haven't looked as big as she can usually do them.

How did someone give Julia's 2A a +2? :frown: It's so small with no height. I'm fine with the placements, but no need for that (or even the +1s).

How fun is it going to be, seeing the Russians go at it :P can't wait
