Thanks for posting this info. I almost forgot.

So despite having a direct conflict of interest to Igor Shpilband, the assistant technical specialist calls out levels for all teams, including Chock/Bates, whose was the highest TES of the night. Interesting. But no, this cannot be a reason why C/B got their high TES.

Don't forget to mention, that French and canadian judges are also there :)

I would never underestimate the power of the technical panel. The difference between levels in footwork and patterns are very material factors driving scores and placements. The ability of the average skating fan (heck, even the skaters and coaches often enough) to decode how such decisions get made between levels 2, 3 or 4 footwork is more often than not a mystery. Nothing like levels in singles for spins for instance. Technical panel has impact that would be silly to underestimate in my opinion.

Lift was clean, I would never give minus GOE for this. But judges should judge entering, which was slow, and it took sooooo long until Lena got into position and the speed in turns Nikita had was slower than usually...that is why a lift was effected. It was definitely not executed on +3 and +2, OK it could be 0 or maybe +1, by why higher, when it was more hardly and more slowly done than ever before??? It was just another example od saving the couple with higher element score.

I noticed the entry was a bit slower (only on second viewing), but the rotational speed and exit looked good to me.

Yes. A technical panel can do MUCH more damage than the judges. Worse, the public does not have enough training or education to know the difference between levels so they blindly trust the panel.

Exactly. PLUS, the math. A smaller denominator. 3 people, not like the judging panel 9. It only takes 2 of 3 to form the consensus on level determination. And HOW the individual members of a panel voted/graded … is ALSO A MYSTERY. Only the panel and the referee would have the ability to know, and explanations are never required. Of course, they are all from the nation of "ISU."

More secrets and anonymity in this sport. Embarrassing.

Well; its all about eternal skating rules - even with more mistakes, the russion couple is the one to win.
Stop thinking about the dominance of D&W and V&M, its history. The russians are back!

What really annoyes me that a few of our members non-stop repeating their post and opinion without any new information included.
Why to repeat it " I like" or "I Don't like" something with exactly the same meaning in each and every posts made by the same person.
It doesn't make anybody's opinion more worthy if it is repeated unnumerous time, please!
This is a "discussion board" not a Shakespeare monolog here!

Woke up and saw disaster for I/K. Hoping for a clean FS and a medal... But i must say their performance until twizzles was amazing, the best they have ever skated...

You and Mrs P crack me up. But then Sane and Reasonable With A Good Sense Of Humor is NEVER to be sneezed at.

Who needs Johnny and Tara? We have the golden duo of WeakAnkles and Mrs. P. You guys are hoot. You even made it worth sorting through Matt K's inane ramblings. I throw virtual stuffed animals at your feet in appreciation.

The truth. Honestly if I/K split it might be a good thing for Elena, she needs a more consistent partner. She was exquisite. She needed a better choreographer like YESTERDAY! Nikita struggles with his twizzles too often. And they often just look bad even when completed. If the fed WERE SMART they would be taken away from Morozov, but apparently they have also fallen prey to his voodoo....

I'm already having a hard time paying for that Canadian ticket. About the only way I could afford to go to Germany too is by postage stamp (though Ingo looks like he would be worth the trip ).

Thanks for the pic Mrs P!

I always wanted to go to Germany...GAWD...so much to do, so little time and money to do it. Man I wish I was independently wealthy.

Fully agreed but technically they can't keep doing that. Mind you their freeskate is divine - let's hope regardless of whether you like them or Morosov they kick it. I would have lowered Chock and Bates good but blah I really would lower them. too bad about B and S and I mean that sincerely, I think I tend to feel sympathy or almost play devil's advocate when I see posters start nagging on a skater; i go opposite - maybe I cheer for the underdog :) I am glad C and L and W and P are ahead of P and B andhope it stays that way. Someone is going to get a gift this truly is affected by all the retirements/injuries and big mistake by I and K. 4 of the top 5 teams are "out" - though I and K maybe could win bronze but they must skate clean.
