2016-17 Russian Qualifiers and other events

If she finished in 3rd place overall here, Nugumanova would be qualified for the Senior Championships, right, Finn?

She can't qualify yet because this is her 1st Russian cup event and she needs to well not only at this event but at the next one too.

Kutovoy finally managed to skate two clean(ish) programs and is third overall, overtaken only by skaters with 3A. Not bad for an 11 year old. He is definitely one to watch.

Yep, by the way it looks like he will qualify for the junior championships.

Qualification standings after 4 events. Those who are already qualified are excluded here.

Ekaterina Kurakova: 2nd and 2nd
Viktoria Vasilieva: 2nd and 4th
Anastasia Gulyakova: 3rd and 3rd
Alena Kostornaya: 3rd and 7th
Ekaterina Mitrofanova: 6th and 5th

Sofia Moroz: 8th and 9th
Yasmina Kadyrova: 10th and 8th

Has skated only one event so far
Daria Panenkova: 1st
Alexandra Trusova: 3rd
Maria Talalaykina: 4th
Anastasia Tarakanova: 4th
Viktoria Safonova: 6th
Ksenia Pankova: 6th
Daria Zainchukovskaya: 7th

There are 10 spots available. Shcherbakova, Kurakova, Vasilieva and Gulyakova have already qualified. Panenkova and Trusova will make it also assuming they will skate at the 5th event. The ones who will claim the remaining 4 spots are more difficult to say but Kostornaya will likely make it and so will Talalaykina if she can skate like she did at the 4th event.

Men
Egor Rukhin: 1st an 2nd
Evgeni Semenenko: 1st and 2nd
Artur Danielyan: 3rd and 1st
Makar Ignatov: 4th and 1st
Egor Murashov: 2nd and 3rd
Andrei Kutovoy: 5th and 3rd
Andrei Sachkov: 4th and 5th
Dmitry Evgeniev: 6th and 4th

Has skated only one event so far
Mark Kondratyuk: 2nd
Artem Frolov: 3rd
Mikhail Udalov: 5th
Igor Efimchuk: 6th
Kirill Yakovlev: 6th

There are 11 spots available. Obviously Rukhin, Semenenko, Danielyan, Ignatov and Murashov have qualified already. Kutovoy will qualify also. Kondratyuk and Frolov will make it assuming they will skate at the 5th event.

Pairs
Nika Osipova / Alexander Gallyamov: They have placed 1st and 3rd. They will qualify obviously.
Albina Sokur / Roman Pleshkov: 2nd and 3rd
Maria Chuzhanova / Denis Mintsev: 2nd and 5th
Elizaveta Zhuk / Egor Britkov: 4th and 4th
Anastasia Melnikova / Alexander Simenenko: 3rd and 6th
Daria Kvartalova / Alex Sviatchenko: 3rd and 7th
Valeria Makarova / Dmitry Shulgin: 6th and 6th
Polina Kostyukovich / Dmitry Yalin: 9th and 5th

Have skated only one event so far
Daria Pavlyuchenko / Denis Khodykin: 2nd

There are only 5 spots available. I really think Russian Fed should allow 15 pairs to compete here because now it looks like some very good pairs, like Kvartalova/Sviatchenko, doesn't make it because of the limitation of only 12 pairs. Osipova/Gallyamov, Sokur/Pleshkov and Chuzhanova/Mintsev have already qualified. Pavlyuchenko/Khodykin will make it also if they can skate like they did at the 4th event. Hopefully Zhuk/Britkov will qualify also.

Ice dance
Ksenia Konkina / Grigory Yakushev: They have placed 1st and 2nd. They will qualify obviously.
Yana Buga / Georgiy Pokhilyuk: 1st and 2nd. They will qualify obviously.
Daria Rumyantseva / Dmitry Ryabchenko: 2nd and 3rd
Angelina Lazareva / Maxim Prokofiev: 3rd and 4th
Ekaterina Andreeva / Ivan Desyatov: 5th and 3rd
Anastasia Ilianova / Dmitry Bovin: 5th and 3rd
Elizaveta Shanaeva / David Narizhny: 4th and 6th
Polina Velikanova / Dmitriy Kotlov: 8th and 4th

Have skated only one event so far
Elizaveta Khudaberdieva / Nikita Nazarov: 5th

There are 6 spots available. Konkina/Yakushev, Buga/Pokhilyuk and Rumyantseva/Ryabchenko have already qualified. Lazareva/Prokofiev will qualify also.

Ekaterina Borisova / Dmitry Sopot

Ice dance
Alla Loboda / Pavel Drozd
Anastasia Shpilevaya / Grigory Smirnov

Note: Usually all ladies and men who have made it to the JGP final have also taken part to the Senior Championships. However, only some pairs have chosen to participate to the senior championships and usually no junior ice dance teams will skate at the senior championships, not even the ones who will move to seniors for next season.

Qualification standings after 4 events. Those who are already qualified are excluded here.

Ladies
Natalia Ogoreltseva: 1st and 2nd
Stanislava Konstantinova: 2nd and 2nd
Valeria Mikhailova: 2nd and 4th
Anastasia Kolomiets: 4th and 3rd
Anastasia Yatsenko: 3rd and 5th
Alexandra Avstriyskaya: 6th and 6th

Has skated only one event so far

Alina Solovyeva: 4th
Evgenia Ivankova: 4th
Anastasia Gracheva: 5th
Ekaterina Guseva: 5th

There are 6 spots available. Ogoreltseva and Konstantinova have qualified already. One would think Fedichkina, Lozko and Nugumanova will make it if they skate at the 5th event.

Men
Anton Shulepov: 3rd and 1st
Pavel Viyugov: 2nd and 2nd
Evgeni Vlasov: 3rd and 6th
Andrei Lazukin: 4th and 5th
Ilia Knyazhuk: 5th and 4th

Kirill Sokolov: 6th and 5th

Has skated only one event so far
Roman Savosin: 1st
Artem Lezheyev: 1st
Murad Kurbanov: 3rd
Vladimir Samoylov: 3rd
Alexei Erokhov: 4th
Pavel Svetsov: 5th

There are 8 spots available. Shulepov and Viyugov have qualified already. There are a lot of guys who have skated only one event, so, a lot of spots are still open.

Pairs
Anastasia Poluianova / Maxim Selkin: 1st and 2nd
Bogdana Lukashevich / Alexander Stepanov: 2nd and 1st
Elizaveta Zhuk / Egor Britkov: 2nd and 3rd

Have skated only one event so far
Maria Chuzhanova / Denis Mintsev: 3rd
Lina Kudryavtseva / Egor Zakroev: 4th

It is really difficult to say how many spots are available because 5 junior pairs have made it to the JGP final and quite a few of them might want to take part to the senior championships, especially since some of them have competed in senior events already. Assuming 3 junior pairs will skate here then there are only 2 open spots. If that would be the case then Poluianova/Selkin and Lukashevich/Stepanov would be the ones who would make it. I really hope Russian Fed will allow 15 pairs to compete here because otherwise good pairs like Zhuk/Britkov and Chuzhanova/Mintsev doesn't make it. This is especially true if 4 or even 5 junior teams decides to skate at the senior championships. In that case even Poluianova/Selkin wouldn't make it.

Ice dance
Vasilisa Davankova / Anton Shibnev: 1st and 1st
Anastasia Safronova / Ilia Zimin: 3rd and 2nd
Olga Bibikhina / Daniil Zvorykin: 2nd and 4th
Anastasia Postnikova / Ivan Shaestakov: 3rd and 4th
Alena Podolskaya / Aleksandr Aleksandrov: 4th and 4th

Have skated only one event so far
Maria Stavitskaia / Andrei Bagin: 3rd
Ludmila Sosnitskaia / Pavel Golovishnikov: 3rd

In theory there are 9 spots available but for example last year there was only 10 ice dance teams instead of the maximum 15 teams. If the quality of the teams isn't high enough then there will be no more than 10 teams. I think it is very likely that there will be only 10 teams this year also. So, assuming Loboda/Drozd and Shpilevaya/Smirnov will not skate here there are 4 open spots. Davankova/Shibnev and Safronova/Zimin have already qualified.

Wow......with all the senior ladies and most promising junior skaters......Russia nationals will be such a bloodbath (the lineup is even more crazy and strong than last year!)

Btw, will Adelina compete there?

Russian Nationals (both junior and senior) are gonna be bloodbath!

Yes, same as the past few years! And always over Christmas break is Russian Nationals... the most wonderful time of the year!

The timing is really crazy for non-Orthodox Christian people. Instead of decorating Christmas tree, you gotta watch the strongest fs tournament in the world. ;)

Sadly no FS videos yet but here are the results.

1. Alexandra Trusova 184.06
2. Anna Shcherbakova 183.31
3. Alena Kanysheva 171.09

Alexandra has a huge 2A so I expected her to try 3A some time soon. With the way she's doing it, and if she can perfect it, I think she has a good chance of keeping this jump as a senior as well.

Her skating is still a bit crude, but I can see a lot of improvement within recent months, and if there's a good place for a skating girl to learn smoothness and sophistication, she's there right now. Also this 2A into one-foot wiggle into biellmann spiral into 3-turns into twizzle into camel spin all on the same foot is a ridiculously difficult transition.
