2016-17 Splits & Partner Changes

Last edited:
OK, so seeing as they don't have a Fan Fest, this seemed the most appropriate thread to post this in.

After announcing at the end of August 2015 that they were splitting, Carolina Moscheni and Ádám Lukács (HUN) announced at the end of March 2016 that they are re-uniting!!! :cheer:  :points:

The newest announcement is so cute!

The GS Member who tipped me off that they had returned said that they were now working with Marina Zueva. So, if this is correct, it could be interesting.

Incidentally, last Friday Carolina tagged herself and Ádám as being in Detroit.

I really liked them the first time round, so hopefully this second time round will be even better!

All the best Carolina and Ádám!

Carolina Moscheni and Ádám Lukács have split AGAIN, just 6 months after they got back together after splitting a year ago.

Judging by Carolina's statement on Facebook, I don't think they will be giving it another go:

Hi everyone, I would like just to take a minute to announce that Adam and I will not skate together anymore. It has been a tough period for both of us and we felt we could have made it together like we did in the past together too. But at the end of the day I feel that respect and love for what we do should come first. We are first human beings before skaters. A lack of this understanding and some unpleasant events made me make my choice and sadly put an end to our partnership after the many chances I tried to give it. My love for this sport is still stronger than ever and I couldn't be more grateful to be part of this amazing world. Thanks everyone who helped our journey. I am definitely going to be looking for a new partner who is willing to work hard and share the love for ice dance with me.

Oh well! I wish them both all the best for the future.

Sorry if I missed another post that mentioned this team but what has happened to the Canadian Pair team of Vanessa Grenier / Maxime Deschamps. They were 5th at Nationals last year and therefore made the National Team yet they are not listed on any assignments on the Skate Canada Site.

Vanessa announced her retirement in June. I do not know if Maxime is looking for another (skating) partner.

What a great news. The release procedure went faster than I expected. Congratulations to the new team!

I will say Russia is usually very decent when it comes to releasing it's 'less' talented skaters (and sometimes even its more talented ones). Many other federations (not even just the nightmare ones like France) would do well to follow their example.

Yes, Aliona and Bruno still might pay some sizable "release fee" to the FFSG. Anyway, I wish the new Spain team all the best.

Kiril Khavialin has been oficially released from the Russian Federation and will skate with Sara Hurtado for Spain. They will be coached by Alexander Zhulin.

And a photo with a message from Sara's instagram:

Glad that we will see Sara back to competitions! :) Good luck to them in the new season. :cheer:

However, from Dubreuil/Lauzon to Zhulin??? I just hope Zhulin will more focus on how to make over their skating together, and on their blades/footwork, never focus on Sara's costume so to speak.... I don't want her in an almost-lingerie-like costume :o: or a see-through men's white shirt :hopelessness:.

ETA Do they have to sit out whole of this season, considering he's represented Russia until 2015-16 and now switches to Spain, I guess?

Any new splits? I hope not.

As discussed in the retirements thread (here's my post), Vera Bazarova and Andrei Deputat cannot work together any more and have split.

It looks like Vera is retiring, while Andrei looks to be teaming up with singles skater Alexandra Proklova.

Here is the post that International Figure Skating magazine put up about it:

Vera worded things carefully so that she did not rule out continuing with a new partner. But, it did sound like she was leaning towards retirement.

It's a shame if that does happen. So, I hope somebody suitable does offer their services to her.

I've seen rumours somewhere (can't remember where excatly) that Bent/Razgulajevs have split, but I hope that's just rumours... I guess we'll see soon enough, since Nationals are slowly approaching.

FSU, in the Canadian Dance thread, probably. That's where I first saw it.

Goda Butkute of Lithuania has posted/updated her bio on icepartnersearch on 11/24, so presumably she has split with Ermolaev.

New partner of Andrei Deputat seem to be Alexandra Proklova: http://fs-gossips.com/oleg-vasiliev-about-bazarova-deputat-parting/

Proklova? Wow. Wasn't she the next prodigy from Russia in solo ladies? I think it could be good change for her though. I am sad that Vera wants to retire nevertheless, there was no talk about it here that I noticed at all. She was such a graceful skater and was great to watch & successful when still with Larionov but sorta faded into oblivion.

Vera is beautiful and graceful, but she just can't jump. She waited for Larionov while he was out on a drug ban, so he stuck with her for years afterward. Maybe Deputat wanted a more reliable jumper for a partner.

Tish Marsh & Anton Spiridonov

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that for reasons beyond our control we have been forced to end our partnership just days before the British Nationals. We are both very sad to end a great partnership that has achieved so much and shown such potential in just one short year together. We are both now seeking new partners to continue training and working towards our goal of achieving Olympic Gold and will of course remain best mates. We would like to sincerely thank all our friends, family, coaches and fans for all your love and support in what has been a sometimes tough year together. Without you we could not have achieved success in 2 JGP events, 2 international Gold medals and 1 Bronze representing GBR. Moving on to new adventures, we hope you will continue to support our future progress and keep cheering for us both at international competitions. Wishing the best of luck to everyone competing this week at the British Nationals.
