To stick to the facts:

They did their thing at Olys, great success.

Out of nowhere at WC, rumors he is leaving her.

He messes up at the WC, she holds it together.

Almost immediately after WC, confirmed he has thanked her for the collaboration but that he's leaving her to skate with Viktoria. It was obvious that the decision was made by him for personal reasons of one kind of another. She did profess to be surprised. Some other poster can go down that rabbit hole if they want, I'm out.

I actually do think so, but I don't think that she was oblivious to the fact that they had or had had problems. I think she thought given their success and the fact that the problems seemed better leading up to Sochi they'd stick it out despite the problems, because Olympic and World Medals, hello. Either way though all we have is what they said and she did consistently and more than once say she was surprised. I don't see why not to believe her.

I have no reason to think otherwise either ... I was just curious what you & others think few years later. It's been discussed to death already in that 100 pages long thread, lol. We know that there was romantic relationship between them and when it ceased it surely harmed them too. There were cases of teams who survived some personal break ups who managed to work & succeed like Berezhnaya / Sikharulidze but Ilinykh / Katsalapov were different after reaching their great success. Morozov also had its impacts - positive & negative ... ok, enough of raking over that from me.

As for Katsalapov as a skater - he's not reliable and never was as great as they made him out to be. I don't know why some treated him like some wonder.

I think that putting them back together would hurt many people and would not be good for both of them. Result obviously matter but also they are two human beings let's not forget about that.

IF they are actually back together or considering it I think A LOT hinges on why they are doing it. For example did they come to the decision on their own? Are they under any pressure? How do they currently feel about everything that happened in the past? Do their goals genuinely match up for now? Do they feel safe with one another?

The answers to these and other questions are critical IMO and we'll probably never know them.

IF this is true I do feel bad for Ruslan and Viktoria though. More Ruslan honestly, but both of them for sure.

Bagin has good presence on the ice. The problem is, Khachaturyan proved to be extremely stiff while Stavitskaya has no ability as a dancer.

As for the rumors, Nastya Skoptsova posted something on her instagram stories that indicates Elena hasn't been at Medvedkovo while Ruslan seems to be spending a lot of time working with the pairs skaters there.
