2016 Korean Figure Skating Championships

I can't wait for the videos! So Youn had a clean performance last year and got 60.40, but both Young You and Da Bin were able to beat that score this season! Are the judges finally starting to be a bit nicer at Korean Nationals?

So Youn just barely made it to the final group. She does seem to be struggling with her combos lately. I hope she does well tomorrow.
I'm so devastated that So Hyun did not make the final group. She is a lovely skater, and with the national bronze last year I had high hopes for her.

Seems like all the many of the competitors had clean SPs! Imagine what the scoring would be if this competition had the exact same nationals-inflation as Russian Nationals.

I imagine Korea will learn to play the politics game. (Their dance teams are too talented for them to not). Just give Korea a little time. I anticipate score inflation to rival the rest of the World by the time Young You and her peers are old enough to compete at the Olympics.

4 Soon jung Ko 87.14 Her dress looks like Chinese. (Or gypsy?)
5 So yeon Park 90.55 And her dress looks like Japanese.

7 Soo min Kang 112.26 I think she`s having difficult time while she brings 3F. Last year, she earned bronze medal at jr. nationals with some clean 3S and 3T, but it is not easy to earn bronze now without bring 3F or 3Lz. Hope she get through this hardship.
8 In young Park 111.15 Lovely program, some 3S and 3T. But many mistakes there..
9 Jee won Bang 103.92 nice 3T-2T. Some mistakes and falls were there, too.
10 Do eun Kim 85.67 She is little yet, but it is nice to see she did her best. Did 3S-2T and 3S.
11 Gyu ri Kim 102.44
12 Hyun soo Choi 114.72 Did really good job! Little Dancing Queen. Several 3S and 3T. 3S-2T, 3T-2T were also nice. Crowds sure love her. --- Current 1st Place

14 Seung been Yu 109.20 2falls, 1pop... but nice 3Lz-2T. She looks unsatisfied. Maybe she`s in bad mood.
15 Ji won Lee 124.46 She almost cleaned. Good quality 3S. 3S-2T-2Lo was good.
16 Chae eun Noh 125.41 Nice clean program~! 3S-2T and 3T-2T were clean. Lovely presentation. --- Current 1st Place
17 Seo young Yoon 103.02
18 Min young Lee 112.55 I like her sp more than fs, but she did fine except some mistakes..

19 Yoon kyung Kam 157.44 She cleaned except step out last jump in last combination. She clearly performed 3Lz-3T 2A-3T 3F 3Lo... Plus crazy spins Nicely done!! She was 4th at Skate Korea Junior ladies event, just behind Eun soo, Young, and Ye lim. Finally she got crown here. 12 years old. --- 1st place over all
20 Su been Jeon 135.72 Almost cleaned, except 2A mistake. Nice 3Lz-2T and 3F-2T combinations. (And I love the way she does 3S) :thumbsup:
21 Mi sun Park 122.58 1fall at 3Lo, otherwise are fine.
22 Na yeong Kim 130.94 1fall at 3F. 3Lz-2Lo and 3F-2T at the first half was good. I think she needs more power to manage to the last of the free program. But still good job! :agree:
23 You jin Jung 122.34 She was good and fiercely jumped at the first half, but many mistakes include falls at the last half..
24 Bo young Kim 125.87 Lovely program, as usual. Good skating skills. Mistakes at axel and 1fall at.. I can`t remember I saw too many programs today.

She said: Feel really happy to get first at short program, above all skilled elder skaters. I tried to do clean program, but not to expect high. I think I got a good result than I thought.

I might have guessed Da Bin Choi... but Young You.... wow! She made a lot of the other competitors look slow and "juniorish" by comparison...! Can she maintain that standard for a full free skate as well? She shows a lot of potential...

I remember that in last season coach, who worked with Kim Ye-Rim, was Choi Hyun-kyun. But now I see a man. Please, could you tell who is now her coach? When he began to work with Ye-Rim, her skating transformed. It's incredible!

I would've maybe thought Dabin too and Soyoun for 1-2 after the Short, but agreed re: Young You. I hope so! It's amazing how the sport is thriving in SK as more and more younger skaters get involved. I do think Soyoun will pull up and manage a podium finish in the Free, but she's more than 5 points away from Dabin and You...

Also, let me say my thanks too to Hailey Shin! All your efforts are appreciated.

Young You has been all my radar ever since someone made a post about her in The Edge. She's incredible.

Soyoun Park is a lovely skater, but I think she is a placeholder, and a weak one at that, between Yuna Kim's retirement and the rise of the next Korean star which will come out of the ranks of the wunderbabies.

I agree!

Young You, Eun Soo Lim, and Ye Lim Kim will become Korean stars! Of course, they still have puberty to face, but their jumping techniques are impeccable!

The Russian and Japanese ladies are up for a big surprise very soon!!
