2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

I cannot, for the life of me, predict what European male will win the 3rd spot. Fingers crossed for Alexei Bychenko. (I suppose Maxim Kovtun would be the favorite? )

Possible candidates would be Alexei, Maxim, Mikhail Kolyada, Ivan Righini, Chafik Besseghier...maybe Jorik Hendrix or Alexander Majorov. I know Kovtun isn't popular on GS, but maybe the Russian fans would vote for him over Kolyada because he's the national champ, and more established. Or not.

Forgot about Kolyada...I can't stand his Nightmare Before Christmas FS, but I'd rather see it than that Beethoven thing that Kovtun does.

Why, sugarpova, you shock me - your fav skater!;)

Note: I hope Sergei gets well soon and can resume training.
I want my fav skater to have a rest, drink cocktails & lay in the sun!:yay:

+ he's in a rap band yo! Maybe they decide to tour!!:agree:

I'll vote for Kolyada, so unexpected from me...

I'm so not familiar with the rule, and sorry if it's been already asked, but are all three single skaters going to skate both SP and FS, or if not, do we know which skater will skate which??

Well we don't really know which 5 skaters Christopher Dean will come up with... and more I think about it, it's kinda weird that if he goes with WS or WR, it doesn't have to be a captain's pick after all, but if he goes for something random then it's hard for him to make himself sound fair and convincing...

How are ticket sales going I wonder. Will this event be broadcast at any point on TV? Will be hard to "compete" with the fan ferver intensity of the past series of Team events in skate-crazy Japan, that's for sure. Though, if they had to pick an isolated city with few competing entertainment options, Spokane has been a proven sweet spot.

Disappointed to see the nominees limited to three selections across the board. Feels strange to have the voting opened up before Team Asia has even been announced. Weird.

Also, why is there only 1 Japanese nominee in the Captain's Picks? Both the USA and Russia have 4 nominees. Just seems a little odd. KOSÉ is the primary sponsor of TCC, right? Oh well. At least Kuchvalska made the cut. I'm voting for her!

The age and gender breakdown is fascinating. Old Men like Medvedeva, Teenage Girls like Radionova. As a guy in the late 20's, I was torn between them but utlimately went with Radionova.

Thx, shyne :).

So only three nominees per category ... which fits the rule of "up to five."

And LOL, we won't know who the captain of Team Asia is until tomorrow ... but we do know who the Captain's Picks for Team Asia are.

From Captain's Pick, we know that Satoko is definitely in (or else Rika would not be in the Fan vote)
Elizabet Tursynbaeva is also in (or Li Zijun would not be in the Fan vote)

Denis and at least one Japanese man is also in (Yuzu, Shoma, Mura or Dai), because if they are not then Misha Ge would not be in the fan vote.
