2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

I found this in wiki about voting.
A vote is a formal expression of an individual's choice in voting, for or against some motion (for example, a proposed resolution), for or against some ballot question, for a certain candidate, a selection of candidates, or a political party.

There is nothing wrong about voting against I guess.
We all have equal opportunities. Koreans make the most of their opportunities but others don't bother to make the best use of those.

In this instance, the voting is very clearly meant to be for a skater, not against others. The people doing this out of spite are perfectly allowed to do so but it's an ugly and petty thing to do. Saying they're only 'taking an opportunity' doesn't make it any less bad.

Yeah it’s more problematic than anonymous judging system. It should be taken down.

Well looks like we broke it.

Voting will be temporarily suspended while the poll administrator addresses issues of automated voting that have been detected. The poll will be reopened as soon as the issues have been resolved and additional automated voting safeguards can be activated.

I'm not sure they can truly detect automated voting. In any event, the 'automated' voting they identified must've been widespread enough to disable the vote.

Anyone wanna place bets they will reset all the counters when the put the poll back online?

I wonder if they will add Mirai and Grant and reset the votes... who knows. It will be fun to see what happens.

I suspect they can detect automated when it is poorly done. If the same IP address is voting at too precise of intervals to be a human... it should not be too hard to figure out.

Well if nothing else... it is once again keeping us engaged.

I actually would love if they released the voting data (masking IPs with some id numbers, for example).

But then i bet a finger its never happening.

One more night passed by and +10000 more votes for Radionova...if it's not cheating/bots then what it is?

By the way... About those, who wotes for Angelina - there can be not only her personal suppirters, but those who want to give an opportunity to the girl from a small fed. Look - the russian ladies have a powerfull support from their fed - financial, facilities and so on and in small feds like, Latvia, I know, there are problems with ice. For example - as I know from the interviews, Angelina has only 8-10 hours of ice trainings per week), with financial support of figure skating, with facilities etc... So maybe the voters for Angelina, who are not her personal supporters, just want to support the girl from small country and small fed...

This tournament is something like "international friendly" in soccer - so why are you so serious about it?

You are the first sport.sru poster I see on GS. You should've gone with a different ID so that you wouldn't be identified. Being a sport.sru poster isn't exactly a thing that would look good on a resume.

Oh, by the way, a person multivoting =/= botting. Some people find exploits and spend their prescious time on voting manually.

What's the point? They'll end up with the same stuff except that the voting span will be shorter.

The website claims they will be implementing "additional automated voting safeguards". Register to vote, maybe?

Pollcaster is not very sophisticated software, least of all the free version, which the TCC site appears to be using. (Check the individual URLs posted a few pages back in this thread... they all have URLs beginning with pollcaster.com/widget/free/)

You can't modify the votes or deep-dive into the analytics. The TCC website just embeds the Pollcaster links on their page, how could the TCC folks make any determination of 'automated voting'? Only Pollcaster could know that, assuming they cared enough to investigate it for the free polls that teamchallengecup.com is running. I'll venture to guess that won't happen, and this current voting method will be scrapped while they find something better.

You can't trust the internet to vote on anything 'serious' anyway.

What's wrong with my sports.sru past?) I'm going to leave that place)

I can still vote; at this very moment.   Although I don't doubt they'll annulate our vain efforts after (if?) thy sort out this mess.

I think they will just say, well that voting thing didn't work out -- we'll just go with whoever does best at Worlds.
