I'm not really surprised Kovtun is leading, because Kolyada has really only been in one major international competition so far. He's not well known by casual fans, while Kovtun is more established, and quite popular in Japan...he's been invited to be part of Mao's show more than once.

Well, if they are throwing out fake votes from you know where, then I have no problem with that...come on, in what universe is Bychenko that popular? (I like the guy but his skating is nothing special, let's be honest.) But it's pretty sad that Mikhail isn't getting any more votes after his great SP. I guess it's impossible for him to catch up now.

Based on the audience's responses to Kovtun at this year's Worlds, he is not popular at all to get votes over 60% among the three. This poll stinks.

I just wished Kolyada gets more votes same as Zijun. The cheer for Zijin was the loudest even before she performed among the three candidates for Asia.
 
I hope they never do this kind of fan voting again. It was not successful and it's just silly. They should have just assigned all the skaters to the event. I've been voting all week and the numbers haven't budged at all.This is just stupid imo.

Now I really want to see Shoma nailing his programs here so I can see his happy smiling baby face and forget his sad crying baby face (even though its still super cute) :cool2:

Oh, for sure after Worlds I hoped Kolyada's numbers would go up. But as I said before, Kovtun does have a lot of Japanese fans who are driving the votes. Anyway, it's probably too late to expect a different outcome. :( Maybe, just maybe, Kovtun will skate better at this low pressure event and save some face (can't imagine he can do any worse...).

After seeing Rika's riverdance live, I hope she wins the vote :) it was such a crowd pleaser :)

Anyone on GS planning on going to the event?

But anyway I have to agree. I think the voting shows to us real attitude to Russian girls. Most people do not like them. People want a new face from Europe, from another country. So let it be :)

I'm not going, but I second that about seeing Rika live! Her FS is one of the best programs of the season and it's even better live. :yes:

I'm sad I missed you too! Right now I think there's a 60% chance that I will go... Some good seats are still left, so I could probably grab a good all-event ticket in time :) After being in Boston, I realized how much fun (and stressful!) these competitions are. I want more! :D
