2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

I'm betting they pick Evgenia to "replace her", because Elena will likely win the fan vote. Russia will come out ahead, if thats the case.

Evgenia might not want to come, however, at this late date. Anna Pogoriliya would be another popular choice.

In case of Pogorilaya, it may be too late to get her visa. My guess is they are going to pick two out of the voting list. The organizers may have done the document work for them already.

Probably she could still get a visa expedited, and in fact hers from the World Championships might still be valid depending on a wide variety of things; however, it's absolutely the case that if anyone is going to require a visa they really have to get that process going, yes.

They should just simply go with Elena and Angelina. Elena was the next highest ranked European woman after Liza and at the conclusion of that questionable voting Angelina process was winning. This is the fairest way to do it barring them actually proving something wrong with the voting.

Aaand the picked Lena and Evgenia. Why did they even have a vote? Doesn't seem like it made any difference, they just picked those who were the best during this season.

Really? I saw a mouse once running around by the drive-thru window at Wendy's. You mean I could have gotten a free Baconator???

Better a Baconator than the restaurant worker at Wendy's who got an alligator thrown at them and not the kind on one of those expensive polo style shirts either!!!!!

So...

Kovtun and Radionova (Europe), Hongo and Jin (Asia), Wagner and Rippon (USA) win the fan vote!
Medvedeva subs Tuktamysheva, and Wang/Wang subs Sui/Han (injury?)

Hopefully Kovtun and Wang/Wang will redeem after poor World showing. The others will have a hard time to top their WC performances.

Rika and Jin are in for Asia, Elena and Evgenia and Kovtun (or Voronov? I honestly don't remember which was already there) for Europe, And Wagner and Rippon for NOrth America.

ETA NM beaten to it :)

Also in today's USFS press release re the Captain's Picks:

... the entire event will be streamed live on icenetwork on a subscription basis. Current icenetwork subscribers can access live and on-demand video for $9.99. Non-subscribers can purchase a Team Challenge Cup specific subscription for $19.99.

So seems as if nothing yesterday was a "mistake," despite what the IN rep told Moxiejan.

Voronov was already in, so Kovtin won fan vote.

I'm really gutted that Liza won't make it, and the Wangs are just not that exciting imo...but in the end, I think the teams look really good. Even though I like Angelina, she's got to be burned out after doing Junior & Senior Worlds back to back, and the Russian girls are simply stronger, no two ways around it. Very, very glad to see Rika get the spot for Team Asia too...thank goodness the shady voting backfired!

So I guess we know how they are raising the prize money. We need a catchy hashtag to tweet to Icenetwork in protest of the additional fee. I hope USFS crashes and burns over this

The fake fan vote was more interesting than I expected! At least it provided a little entertainment prior to Worlds, before reaching its inevitable outcome.
