It is?!? I thought I made sure it wasn't!

Update: nope, not quite yet. First event is tomorrow at 8:10 local time (6:10 for me, 7:10 mountain time, 9:10 for the east coast).

Both sides of the coin are correct, one could say.

Per the logo, etc., today is/was the first official day of the overall event/competition, because today is/was the first day of official practices.
(And paid admission was necessary for spectators at practices, for example.)

Thought it was worth mentioning that Karen Chen's brother (with Layla Karnes) won the first segment of the juvenile dance event. Congratulations, Jeffrey and Layla!

Watching the Intermediate ladies. There have only been two skaters but they both had 2As and 3Ses! Both scored over 35. Quite impressive! The last skater, Alysa Liu, was adorable and had a great program that I loved. Scored 40. I hope she medals!

I think the bonus system has been a real success. Last year with Juvenile girls I could barely find any of them that did 2As. This year I think all the girls except for two had double axles. Looks like one of the boys in intermediate competed with the lutz! All the intermediate girls at least had double axels most of them had 3S. Previously you could have lower level jumps and still place or even win. Hopefully this leads to more competitive single skaters in the future.
