Do you have a link to that? I read a recent interview with her and she said she was happy with Rudy and I think he choreographed one or both of her programs this year. She's also going to be in school in the fall in addition to training.

Christy Ness was Kristi Yamaguchi's coach - but I don't think that Ness has had anyone else who made a Olympic/World team since Kristi won OGM in 1992. I could be wrong, though.

Could be a good move, maybe too late.
David Glynn was almost too kind with her: in the KnC it was all about "Polina you're beautiful, judges keep underscoring you" ignoring all the underrotations she has. (although she has always been a consistent skater with him)
Though i haven't seen a skater from Christy Ness in a very long time, that's concerning.
Definitely a good move to change the choreographer: Rudy programs were too junioristics, Marina Klimova was a way better choreographer.

The Cha Cha Cha SP is still my favourite program from Polina Edmunds.

I can't help but feel this a mistake. Prior to her injury, Polina had the best showing at Nationals and to say that I'm shocked is an understatement. When did she decide to make this change? If I were her coach, or choreographer, I'd be upset at the missed opportunity to find another job. Did she give a reason? Rudy is a local hero and being from Central Ca. and his comeback story would seem to be a motivator for Polina. I hope it works out but, her stock just dropped a couple of points in my book. I hope I'm wrong....

I'm afraid that I'd want more in the way of verification that a change has even taken place before offering an opinion concerning it. The IceNetwork article of September 21st was based on an interview with Polina last weekend at the "Evening with the Stars" exhibition. In in it, she said:
"[Galindo] knows my strengths and really highlights them. Everything works between us. He gives me ideas and I kind of feed off them as well. It's definitely a team effort and it really gets together in the end."
The article mentions that the new program she skated at the exhibition was also choreographed by Galindo.
This certainly suggests a continuing relationship.
In the video of her performances at the Glacier Falls Summer Classic last July 28th and 29th, David Glynn and Rudy Galindo are waiting to greet Polina as she comes off the ice. All of them seem happy and pleased.
If the change had taken place "months ago," as mentioned by one poster, it would have had to have taken place after the Glacier Falls competition. The Wilkipedia article on Polina, however, continues to list Nina Edmunds and David Glynn as her coaches. If there was a change, it evidently was not the subject of an official announcement, or if an announcement has been made, it has happened too soon for the Wikipedia article to be updated.
Let's wait until further information is developed regarding this story before commenting on it or speculating on what it might mean.

That's a relief. I know it's early but, the one performance that Polina gave this summer was decidedly under par. I realize she's been out of competition but, I thought she was training while attending college. I hope this was the right decision. Especially with Mirai getting her groove back, the ladies are going to have a tough battle ahead.

Though i said that i didn't like previous Rudy's programs, the two i saw on one of her first competitions this season (Glacier Falls i think) were good.

Sergie Ponomarenko is married to Marina Klimova and was her partner when they won three world championships and Olympic bronze, silver, and gold medals in ice dancing. Klimova choreographed Polina's junior programs and the breakthrough Grieg program that took her to the Sochi Olympics. She was of course succeeded by Rudy Galindo.
Other coaches had been brought in from time to time to work with David Glynn in addressing various aspects of Polina's skating, most notably Frank Carroll when she won the U.S. Junior Ladies national championship. I would guess that, as Polina has matured as a figure skater and a person, a growing need was felt for something beyond what Glynn can provide. Interestingly, though, Ponomarenko and Klimova have worked together in coaching young figure skaters. While Ponomarenko may be the coach or record, I can't help but think that Marina will be involved in some fashion. If so, it will be a great benefit, for there was a special grace to Polina's performances through that Olympic season.

I assume that Dave knows his stuff. He usually does when it comes to stuff like this. That said, I find it borderline bizarre that Rudi Galindo would be dumped for Christy Ness a second time in his life? Kristi dumped him as a partner to pursue singles with Ness, now Polina dumps him as a choreographer to move to Ness? And why would anyone move to Ness anyway, given how long it's been since she has had any successful students?
Polina probably needed a coach/choreographer change to truly develop beyond where she was 2 years ago, but this choice at this time seems very weird.

The information we have is still somewhat ambiguous and confusing. The TSL tweet says that Christy Ness has replaced David Glynn and Rudy Galindo. The IceNetwork posting indicates that Nina Edmunds and Sergei Ponomarenko are Polina's coaches and that Rudy Galindo remains her choreographer, the most recent IceNetwork stories on Polinia reflect her confidence and optimism going into the coming season but don't refer to any changes having been made, while the Wikipedia profile, which one would expect would have been based on publicly available information, such as official statements, still shows Nina Edmunds and David Glynn as her coaches and Rudy Galindo as her choreographer.
Certainly I'll be keenly interested in any information that can be developed which will clarify what has happened. The TSL tweet probably reflects "inside" information--or a rumor--but whether it is correct or not awaits verification. Perhaps it is simply wrong, and the change has been made to Ponomarenko and not to Ness, or maybe Ponomarenko is an interim coach and the final change will be to Ness.
Such a change would not be out of the question, however. A dancer or musician might be carefully taught and nurtured in the art as he or she grows up by one who is good and wise and loving. By all accounts, David Glynn has been just this sort of coach and much loved by his students. For a dancer or musician--or a figure skater--to reach the highest level of her or his talent, it may be necessary to move on to a teacher still wiser. In this Olympic year, as Polina has come back from an injury, perhaps there was an understanding that David Glynn should step aside, in order that she might realize her gift all the more. It is always sad when this happens, even tragic, and yet, out of love, one must step aside and another must go on, that beauty and goodness and love should be fully expressed.
But we shall have to wait and see what has actually transpired...

Is Christy Ness back in the Bay Area? Kristi ... and Rudy for a time ... had to move to Edmonton, Canada to continue with Christy. That was one of the traumatic things for Rudy.
Kristi's TSL interview details why she actually made the split. After or at 1990 Worlds, when they were rising in the world ranks and Kristi was also rising as a singles skater, she was "approached" and it was suggested that she devote herself to singles. They said, "we think you'd do well."
In Rudy's TSL interview, he said the break-up happened then, thru a mediator.
Both interviews are excellent, compassionate, appreciative of each other. Rudy's is one of the most inspiring I've heard.

I think Rudy choreographed Polina's programs so he could still be involved. He has always been kinda her choreographer/coach anyway... maybe now he is is the choreographer and Ness is the coach?
Also. I thnk Rudy and Kristi are on excellent friendly terms. Frankly I think it is more likely that Rudy would tell Polina "Go see Ness, look what she did for Kristi" than it is that there is bad blood.

As long as she keeps Rudy, I'm fine with this decision. Her Moonlight Sonata SP was a masterpiece and if Rudy was the choreographer, I truly hope she held on to him. If she is going to Ness than Rudy already has a "Relationship" with her. I also don't think Ness had anything to do with Rudy and Kristi's breakup. I think it was more about Kristi herself and possibly her Parents. Polina was so good in 2016 and like Gracie, if she can get her groove back, who knows what could happen. From what I understand, Rudy and Kristi have patched things up and I remember her being very proud of his win in 1996.
