i just love this sport and i think it's better where there's suspense.

I also adore P/C but V/M were just so phenomenal in this SD. Don't be worry, they will slay their FD... And you (P/C) can't win all the time, exactly V/M were the first to learn that

Just remember that I'm sure the real goal is Olympic gold and P/C are so young that they will be around for at least the next two. V/M will be gone after Korea. I still think P/C could win the Olympics in 2018. The FD next year will tell the tale. Heck they could even win tomorrow. Uphill battle but maybe. If it makes you feel any better my favourite team is in 9th.

I remember reading somewhere that P/C are not sure if they will continue after the 2018 Olympics, so next season might be their last. I know they are young, but 4 years of intense training while fighting to be at the top, especially if they feel they are sort of restricted in their artistic capacity by the technical rules (or this is the vibe I get from reading the interviews), is not an easy thing to commit too. Not everybody is Aliona Savchenko

I thought that there was, usually, like barely 2 points difference between the first few teams. But there, it's... the Canadian team can fall, what, three times in their FD and still win, with that kind of lead

I'm just surprised, but honestly I'll take everyone's word about it since I haven't watched yet. I blame work for daring to not give me today and tomorrow off ! XD

Hopefully this ends Shibutanis hype. They cant show accelaration on ice, Dont have speed, dont have ice coverage comparing top teams, leg extentions are lazy but thanks to US techncal specialists they got here as rivals of VM and PC. As I said before there is huge difference between their levels under American tech specialist or specialists from other countries.

I like P/C a lot too... (just like V/M more)... but suspense there will be... the battle for bronze will be super exciting.

I haven't seen Tessa and Scott yet, but does it matter? I don't think anyone questions their placement.

I agree with the small margins between teams, maybe with some exceptions. While nearly every team lost levels, it was a good competition and it's hard for me to decide who was the best.

P/C need to find their contemporative side again. It will hurt them in the future. Gabi also needs to improve her SS. Overrall, still a deserved second place.

H/D SD music is a crap, not cohesive at all, which is a shame since it shows you can do modern pop in skating, but you have to it well... Happy for their third place though, even though they did solely because of TES.

C/B were funny and exciting, but their weak basics were apparent. Them and Shibs are pretty much on the same level in this comp for me.

I have already spoken about Shibs, but I can say it again: other teams made progress but Shibs not so much and it finally caught to them today. They can come back better next season, but let's be honest, this season wasn't theirs.

W/P were underscored IMO. I think they deserves the third place, or fourth at least. They lost their spark in this quad, but this competition showed it might be coming back. They had one of the most mature perfomances.

G/P were also underscored as hell. Ninth place for them is a travesty. Even if their ss are not the best (but they improved, it's fine actually) and you don't find them appealing, it's still clear they should have got much higher Marks in IN and PE. They skated it like exhibiton.

Overrall, a great event, even though all teams except V/M lost levels, but then the close results are because of that. I'm really glad the results are suprising, as it shows hope that ice dance is not compeletely political and that it depends what the dancers do on the particular day.

True. Also, sadly, injuries can happen.
As I said I don't think losing this (if they do) will be such a bad thing for them. Sometimes teams come back very strong after losing. P/C ubers don't lose faith.

Where do you see that? P/C are losing due to execution(4 points on base TES alone); if not for the lost levels it would be V/M and P/C within one point, followed by the rest by some margin. And it's rightly so, they're the only two teams with superlative SS plus the very important "Je ne sais quoi".

They would not have been within one point (unless you just mean technically). Even still, P/C's SD personal best is 78.26 in France this season. They got two level 3's there and got a level 3 and level 2 at Euros... so I was pretty sure V/M would be ahead, and V/M hitting all their levels certainly meant there was no catching them.

The short answer is that there is a difference between "very good" and "truly great."

V/M are the only great team currently competing.

I'm very glad for H/D; I like their skating very much. I'm in the minority among the American camp... they're my favorite American team.

There is a chance. Point or 2 difference is nothing. But if it is a close call like it was in SD judges will give the medal to another nation (even all the Americans messed up their FD, C/L will have a chance, their FD had the best reception in the arena in Europeans)

The thing is, looking at the breakdowns of the SD scores, one can see that the placements at this point in the SD were determined by a tenth of a point here on TES vs a tenth of a point there on PCS....and looking at those one can see some sense in it all. e.g. Hubbell/Donahue coming in last in PE, CO, and IN with that program resonates with me....but should they really have had 9s in those components when compared with the other teams?

It's really making the case [as has been discussed endlessly in men's] that the PCS ceiling is distorting things.

And as an aside, I really don't get how Gilles/Poirier got nearly a full point less in PCS than Cappellini/Lanotte for the same TES....

Well, that's not what I thought would happen.

V/M... no surprises. I LOVE that OD. It's like a complicated show program. Nice changes since 4CC.

After that, I'm not too sure what went on. All I know is P/C shouldn't be THAT close to H/D. I'm not a fan of either SD (much prefer P/C's FD) but the whole mixtape of old school hip hop music is jarring to say the least. Just when they'd get to the good parts of any song, it would change and I'd lose my groove. So I can't justify their PCS being as high as it was.

The FD will be hella interesting.

Yes well.. I can totally relate to loving a skater and being upset by results. I cried when Kurt messed up his short in 94. It was heartbreaking.
