2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Anna's potential array of quads is far more limited than Sasha's. Sasha's 4T, 4S and 4Lz are all possible, and her Flip and Loop should also be good enough in theory. She also has a huge 2A and might have 3A potential.

On the other hand, Anna's Salchow and Loop are both weak and the Flip doesn't make me very comfortable, either. If she learns something apart from Toe or Lutz, I imagine it would have to be the Flip. I just see no hope for any other jump. Then again, she just might whip out a 4S out of nowhere. Not like her having a 4T makes any sense either.

I agree with you completely. It doesn’t seem likely at all that Anna will ever have as many quads as Sasha. Then again, the last time we all expressed that there was little hope in Anna getting quads soon, she had a 4Lz-3T-3Lo a week later. She’s full of surprises, isn’t she?

If she shows 4Lz, then maybe...
4Lz 4T 4S 3Lz-3Lo (can be turned into 4Lz if needed and then move combo down)
---
3Lz-3T 2A-1Lo-3F (must have axel type jump) 3F if she doesn't have 4Lz ready to compete... 4T 4S 2A 3Lz-3Lo --- 3F-3T 3Lz-1Lo-3S 3F
Thank you, an intriguing game of crossword puzzle solving & playing chess at the same time. I feel like Tutberidze. If AT doesn't have 4Lz ready to compete... we'll see 4T combo! http://images.vfl.ru/ii/1531479638/269a9bed/22467157.jpg

Trusova: I'm a little conservative in the quad subject and I think she will do one quad in the beginning of season and will add 2 at the end, as last year. With possibly changing layouts with different quads.

I don't really like where this is going with quads.

If you look at Alexandra, it took an entire season to see a fully rotated, cleanly landed 4s and it's not just but i'm also wondering how long she is going to last if she starts to practice quads all seasons. Will she even be able to compete in seniors?

While Anna's triples are already very concerning, she got injured already, so why keep going with the quads? She is such a fantastic skater, very artistic i don't think she has to win the technical game, they should develop even more her artistic qualities while making all her triples clean and consistent.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sasha want to be the first who performed 4Lz at competition.
IMO it will depend on her stamina and consistency.

Anna's layout from DOI were: 3Lz 3F-3T 2A 3S // 3Lz 3F-2T-2Lo 3Lz-3Lo
her jump layout for competitions could be: 4Lz 3F-3T 2A 3S // 3Lz-3Lo 3F-2T-2Lo 3Lz
I think Anna is going for 4Lz. Could be the First Lady who lend it.

I'm going to enjoy the QuadQeen for the rest of my life. It will be enough to review JWC 2018.
Even after 60+ she will able to compete in seniors, i dare say.

I predict that there will be shock and outrage at Eteri for letting them practice quads because they're not in seniors yet so their achievements are false. To some people.

And, at the same time, shock and outrage at Eteri holding them back, because "everybody else is practicing quads, but they aren't".

Kostornaia for me! I'm just in love with her. I do not want to have a definite opinion on Anna yet cause she hasn't competed internationally yet but i really love how light she is on the ice. Her chopin program was fantastic. i'm waiting for the JPG performances before deciding :)

she is my favorite too. i wasn't even a follower of any of the current russian juniors until this spring when i watched world juniors, and to me her skating is superior to the other girls--she is so mature for her age and really has the ability to pull you into her performance. you don't want to take your eyes off of her. i wasn't bored with her skating like i was with trusova; i didn't feel like i was watching a junior lady.

not to mention that girl is FEARLESS with her jumps; i was in awe when i saw the video of her 3A! i thought she was going into a double the way she attacked it. literally no fear or hesitation.

i haven't been truly excited about a russian lady since i first saw sotnikova in 2011, and i'm SO excited to see where her future takes her. she has the most potential out of all the russian juniors IMO.

A query. Does anyone know why the sambo-70 team don't have summer camps abroad? I guess it's cheaper and more convenient to be in Novogorsk but still if other
clubs in Moscow and S. Petersburg have them, then it could have been cool, if they'll do that for a couple of weeks as well.

What would the advantages of doing a summer camp abroad and not at the home National Team base be?
One would think that the availability of facilities would drive a lot of this...

Ice and off ice facilities are critical to an effective program...

I believe those are international camps. The foreign skaters and their family or their escorts can go more easily outside of Russia. They can get visas much more easily or they can travel without visas.

To me, the counter entry into 2A is a marker for "3A potential"
Anyone who needs an extra step into 2A should have little chance in successfully landing a 3A

First to make it clear I don't know the details of figure skating training process form start of season to the peaking time during main competitions. As a kid junior/senior high school I was doing athletics (middle distances).

I will consider it, for example, more beneficial to train for a couple of weeks in the beginning of the season in a place with high altitude like Grenoble (run etc. in surround hills, plus rink). Which gives an advantage to build better stamina through aerobic exercise (main part of physical conditioning) in lower oxygen consecration. Plus the isolation and mental relaxation... Just thoughts...
