2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I am pretty sure that Eteri will send whoever qualifies, and let fed take care of the reputation of the seniors. Rusfed is more than capable of reputation scoring at their own nationals. I see easily Alina and Zhenya getting 38 and 78 PCs and all +5 GOE, while the juniors will get 30 and 60 PCs and lower GOEs to keep the gap. With the new GOEs, they are more than capable of keeping a clean Trusova behind clean Alina and Zhenya.
they're not stupid enough to do such a stupidity.
btw Alena Kostornaia's PCS from RN were almost 33 and 68 already.

I didn't see any pantomime in Sasha's programs, maybe i'm blind :scratch2:

I think they mean the part where she skates up to the boards and pretends she’s in a glass box and breaks the glass.

Thinking about it, I really hope that the third JGP will be held in a rink which has those tall clear panels at the boards. It’ll fit so well with her program.

(edit: I just googled the rink, and oh my gosh, there really will be clear panels there! https://goo.gl/images/Wpoz7u)

Maybe that’s the true reason why they wanted to send her to the third JGP.

Nobody in Russia is happy about the new rules, i kinda agree with them.

They made arms variations pointless, limit the second half, what's next? only 1 triple-triple? it really feels Figure Skating is regressing.

Some people clearly felt threatened by the fact that 12 year olds who will never see a JGP could do what their 22 year old world medalists couldn't...

22 year old World Champion, what I'm sure the 12 year olds mentioned are dreaming of becoming one day, who won over fellow competitors that used arm variations on almost every jumping pass. And for the record, I myself appreciate arm variations done in moderation.

it's not pointless if it looks good. It will count as "very good body position from take-off to landing".

I personally value nice axis without leg wrapping / shoulder shrugging / back hunching a lot more. Arm variations (that looks good!) are cherries on the cake. Say, for example, I'd rather Tursynbaeva jumps with her thighs shut before throwing in tanos and rippons.

I'm sure they dream of more than one world title. Else skaters like Tuktamysheva and Kostner, and even Osmond should've just retired after theirs.

Is that after the tests ? Tarakanova don't seem so happy :(

That’s just a pretty typical Nastya expression actually :)

Few things I noticed....

1) Oldest person in the photo is the only one who can’t seem put his phone down long enough to grab a quick group photo.

2) The kid in the blue and white (next to Sasha) gear got me with the “made ya look ” circle with his hand and owes me a punch on my shoulder.

3) Alena believes in Nastya’s Program ;)

^ And how many Russian Ladies World Champions are there, let alone a repeat Champion. Should Med have retired after two World titles and after losing the Olympic Gold? I'm looking forward to seeing her development with this move to Canada, under Tracy and Brian. :)

oh i see it now thanks! i think it's a clever move, it's interesting! i'm fine with a little bit of pantomime as long as it fits the choreo and doesn't become a part of every single program.

No, I'm not, I'm saying that they obviously want more and so they continue. And likewise, young Russian skaters probably want more than just one world title.

oh :slink: i was ready to start a fight :laugh2:
with how competitive the russian field is, it seems like it's gonna be a real war to try and stay #1 for as long as someone like Medvedeva has. The competition wasn't as tough for her as it is today.

Right now the bar they probably see as being set is that of Zhenya. The consistency and level of competitiveness. I think the young skaters want to reach and surpass that mark. I know I would and especially if I was doing the type of layouts everyone at this test skate is capable of doing. One World Championship ain’t going to cut it for this group.

Kids these days

Four, two of them repeats. Med was the first one to defend her title since Kwan, too, I believe.

Med moving to Canada doesn't change the fact that she would still be a Russian vying for a chance at another title, either.
