i've been looking at eteri's girls' lutzes since i saw the lutz videos on youtube.
they talk about pre-rotation and using full blade and of course wrong edge.
i noticed that medvedeva has the worst lutz out of all: clear !inside! edge, full blade on takeoff, excessive pre-rotation
shcherbakova's lutz is pretty bad as well: she has a deep outside edge during her entry but by the time she puts her toepick into the ice, her edge is already inside. also, same as medvedeva, full blade takeoff and excessive pre-rotation
panenkova&trusova are about the same: they have correct edges, but still full blade takeoff and excessive pre-rotation
zagitova is a bit better imo: correct edge and visible pre-rotation(but her pr is better than the others) her main problem is still the full blade takeoff
kostornaia has a much better lutz i think: slight unclear edge and i think her pre-rotation for her lutz is less than 1/4 so it is clearly acceptable and she doesn't really twist her body before she takeoff while all the above mentioned has this problem. and most importantly, she uses her toepick for takeoff, maybe she rocks a bit backward but she's surely not using full blade, not even 1/4 of the blade.
tarakanova&tsurskaya: obviously has the best lutz: both have a clear outside edge and the rest is about the same as kostornaia so i don't bother repeating again.
so, from what i see, the ones who have been with eteri the longest have the worst technique(med and anna), well maybe except tsurskaya(she's a really special jumping talent who has a different technique from the rest of the field). i really appreciate the consistency and the wowing entries of eteri's skaters. but before that, i think she should teach her skaters proper technique to each jump before all the fancy stuff, seriously.
I understand that it's not only eteri's problem, there are lots of russian skaters with bad jumping technique as well but i think that's not an excuse.
look at davydov's current skaters: berestovskaya and samodelkina. both have clear outside edges, minimal pre-rotation and only use their toepick for takeoff. They might not have the best height but at least they're trying with the right technique
or look at panova's skaters: kanysheva, sitnisyna, kostyuk. well kanysheva clearly has the best lutz technique, very deep outside edge, minimal pre-rotation and clear toepick takeoff, but the other two also has good technique on their lutzes as well. not to mention sotskova and tarakanova (her ex-students), which are both known for their lutzes.
and of course, the dr. of jump tech, mishin. his students always have the best technique.
it is not that hard to teach the right technique but it needs a lot of time correcting so i'm hoping that if eteri really decides to take in 5-8 students, she starts teaching them the right technique or else it would be sad to see our future ogm all have bad techniques.
Somebody may have free internet connection or sb may pay 6$ for internet connection or lives in a poor family, which you can feed for a whole day with 6$, so they don't have another 6$ for a fee on internet fs fan's forum. You don't have 6$ but you do have money to pay for your internet connection?![]()
Wait, WHAT!?
Omg. Is she gonna put it in her program?

They are growing up bodies. Oh gosh their bodies change all the time. I am sure Gubanova wants to compete or else the fed might have forgotten if she existed at all. They snubbed her 2 times at Junior Nationals. If she were not hurt she would not skip. It's still ridiculous, i feel all these issues must be worked out before the season begins.
BillNeal Some skaters WERE arrogant enough and put 3!!!!! FLutzes in their SP&FS.
What a surprise it wasn't Evgenia or other Eteri's skater... :sarcasm:

Next time think about how to choose a right thread for such comments. The thread where they really belong.Hmm, I'm not sure which skaters you are referring to. Certainly not a Russian lady at the OG. You're welcome to discuss non-Russian skaters in other threads.![]()

Let's not be a hypocrite. Doesn't look good.

True. I did find it somehow brilliant that, given how their BVs could have stacked up at the Olympics because of this, though, Medvedeva still somehow beat Osmond. The Russian ladies either gather a huge base value, or build up a huge reputation to beat the ladies they're stacked up against. Can't always agree with some results, but gotta give it to them, they know how to work the system to beat everyone they're stacked up against. Osmond decided not to be stacked up against any Russian lady though, this year. Winner whom they'll be defeating.

This has been extensively discussed. Unfortunately, as long as people, including the judges, turn a blind eye on these problems, Eteri is not encouraged to teach proper technique. When greater GOE and same BV are given due to wrong edges, prerotation, and poor technique (eg. uncalled 3Lze at the OG), she is using the fastest route to get the highest number of points. As long as there were enough embellishments like tanos and rippons to distract the judges, as well as hitting bullets for the elements, her students were showered with high GOE (and PCS). The onus is on the judges and technical panel to actually give lower scores for flutzes (and lips), greater prerotation, poor takeoff position, etc. Some skaters at least have been sending her a message by leaving her.
Could you explain to me why Eteri is always the one that comes to your mind about "not teaching proper technique"? There are several who teach this method. I think you should let it go. It must hurt your fingers typing this extensively about Eteri and Eteri alone. Personally I am having a good laugh, though. I doubt you'd actually know why proper technique matters for good jumping.
Actually, give me 10 names, men and women, who have "proper technique" currently. In your opinion.
You sure can. You could phrase it either "Her new skates were blistering her feet severely," or "Her new skates were severely blistering her feet." Either way would be acceptable, although most people would probably phrase it the second way. Nevertheless, it is fine to say it the way you did, and it makes perfect sense. In short. She was supposed to take part in JGP, but her new skates (she now is trying the third ones) were blistering her feet severely (can I say like that in English?). Buyanova says her feet were literally bleeding... According to her there's still a chance to take part in JGP later. But I am not that optimistic, honestly.
I must confess the whole new-skates-story sounds rather ridiculous. Anyway, best luck to Nastya.
