2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

My doubt it's more about movements than music.

The movement and the story are very well explained by Daniil Markovich when he told about this program.
Even Eteri Georgievna has praised this program.
Some steps and movements are the same in this sport, but Polina never copied anybody's programs. Not even the clothes.

I don't think Polina was copying anyone but she really could use a better choreographer. She is so tall and if she worked with the a good choreographer they could highlight the extension in her beautiful long limbs ala Carolina Kostner. Also, I love her but she needs someone who will encourage her to perform on the ice. She is very business like on the ice. The basic skating is amazing far better (in my opinion) than Med or Alina but she does not perform very much. I think she has the capacity to perform beautifully with the right programs/ right coach.

I think Eteri is being ridiculously unprofessional with this whole thing - that said, I think some of it might be cultural. Russian coaches in general seem much more open to discussing drama and spilling tea than most non-Russian coaches. We've seen it with Raf, too. At the same time, when Raf is negative about his skaters, it seems much more honest, whereas what Eteri is doing is more trying to get the media on her side and turn everyone against Evgenia, whereas I did not get that impression from Raf ever.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to more official news, and as an Evgenia fan, I'm excited to see her moving on somewhere new. She's probably maxed out under Eteri and needs new eyes and new strategies to improve her skating.

Sometimes, when you see some skaters or programs, you find some similarities, something that remind you of another one. It's now wrong per se, if you feel that everything work put together.
To me, even if you knowing or not that Polina comes from Eteri's camp, this year it was really obvious if you see her free skating. But, i just think that something different may fit her better, and its only my feel about it, i'm not a judge :)

: I don’t know whether it’s a strength – her discipline. She had everyone in her fist: “I said so and that’s it!” That’s why she was never able to work with adult gymnasts. She coached gymnasts until a certain age, until the junior European Championships and she couldn’t continue working further. The girls had puberty, problems, their own opinions… And she couldn’t manage it.

This is from an interview by mustafina the gymnast about her ex coach which I find really interesting in this situation as I think some parallels can be made and maybe slightly explains what is going on in Eteri’s camp

There's a bit of trouble there if you think that is hating. I could equally call you a worshiper since you allow for no criticism whatsoever. She has excellent success with younger athletes. It does not translate to adult ones. She has never had one, and now that the opportunity has presented itself, both have left. And yes, her comments are more than enough to be very clear she has no desire to because she thinks it's a waste of time. It's actually not a crime; she's allowed to focus on one age group. Many do. But if that is so, then just release the rest, without this nonsensical drama.

When it's Alina's turn, and it'll come, what can I say but good luck.

I don't know why you think that i'm worshiper or something. I thought my nickname says it clear that i'm a fan of russian figure skaters in general, not fan of Eteri skaters only.

Well, she said in her last interview that she'll skate only in programs that she is feeling them.
And Daniil Markovich said in an old interview that Polina is one of few people who doesn't fear to try something new.
I hope just she is ok.

Mostly I am just tired of how behind all the english newsies are by at least 12 if not 24hrs. I could understand before when it was just rumours but now that there have been actual statements, you'd think they could find someone who could understand Russian to translate so that they could write a piece.

Now my trustworthy insider says that Evgenia is going to Plushenko. This is a 100% trustworthy information from the trustworthy insider.

Alex Yagudin spoke to Gazeta.ru. He said “it was impossible for Medvedeva and Zagitova to work together. Two people who are keen to win cannot survive under the same coach, regardless of how good the coach is trying to make the situation. He said that there was a lot of fighting and arguing going on.

A-a-and now we know that Eteri wasn't happy with Alina's win. Why I am not surprised? :sarcasm:

Is this news? This was 100% obvious to anyone, or should have been. To be honest, I was very shocked to see how many people actually thought that Eteri favored Alina over Evgenia. Like they watched the whole season with their eyes closed.

Another thing that Zhulin apparently said is that as Medvedeva was injured and her status uncertain for Olympics, the fed pushed for Zagitova especially hard. And yeah, I imagine that her scores wouldn't have become nearly as high without Medvedeva's injury.

I feel like these are now all appetizers for the main event today. Waiting for this sucks especially since it's a workday.

Well, this is interesting. Apparently, Medvedeva arrived? And to be honest, closing that thread when the announcement is supposed to be today really made zero sense to me. I guess we'll just discuss this here then...?

Maybe someone has just feel that the thread was derailing, after Eteri's interview.

Oh well, i just hope that Evgenia will respond properly about all of this and hers future, without feeding the fire.

As for Eteri preferring Evgenia, well duh. She asked people not to call Alina Olympic Champion, didn't she? LOL then Evgenia (possibly) ghosted her, no wonder the woman went mad and said all kind of stuff

yeah it was obvious but saying it in public is another thing, russian figure skating will need a lot of vodka and caviar to clean this mess

Yeees, and everyone expresses her/his opionions so.... open and
everyone has an inside source or a private conversation with the persons directly involved.
It's just... epic.:drama:

Does anyone over there have a concept of what the word private means? Good grief, what is the point of this nonsense :palmf:
