Here's a British Pathé newsreel from 1927 showing some fascinating figurework and pretty sophisticated moves. Willie Böckl makes a short appearance,.

Willie Böckl was world champion several times and OGM twice.

That's a cool looking jump!

Is it worth anything in terms of BV?

Something happened with Anna during practice. I hope it's nothing serious.

Shcherbakova received a severe injury during training in Sarajevo
At the beginning of the practice, the Russian skater confidently performed a series of triple jumps and cascades. Shortly before the training rental of the free skater, Shcherbakova put on protective pants with foam rubber, which are used to practice quad jumps.
But to begin with, the athlete again intended to perform a triple Lutz, but at the very approach she noticed near Arkhipova and, avoiding a collision, fell hard and hit the side.
Later Shcherbakova worked on the background of pain, she refused to work off the quad-lutz. The next call on the triple Lutz took place after a long pause. After the incident with the fall, she did not even have Salchow in three turns, with which problems for skaters of this level usually do not arise. After that, she was not able to go on the same triple Lutz, although there was no interference nearby.
During rolling to the music, Shcherbakova made a pure triple lutz, a triple lutz cascade - triple toe loop and quite hard performed a triple flip - oiler - triple salcho cascade.

I've been impressed by her for quite some time. She has it all.

Me too! She is my favorite Novice. Such a well rounded skater. Looking forward to her hopefully moving up to junior domestically next year. Am I correct that she will be age eligible for junior in the 20-21 season?

I believe it is just scored as a 1A with base value 1.10. That's why it is is never done in competition. I don't think anyone can do a double inside Axel.

They’re not transitions? I’ve seen both Jason and Adam use them as transitions into other jumps.

Oh. I don't know. I was going by this Wikipedia page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axel_jump

which says about "Axel Variations" including the Bockl

In general, the International Skating Union's new ISU Judging System discourages skaters from including variety jumps such as Axel variants in their competitive programs, because they count towards the maximum number of permitted jumps but carry a miuch lower point value than any double or triple jump that the skater might do instead.

If the inside Axel is a non-listed jump, like a split jump, then yes, that's a very cool transition or entry.

Edit: You are right, I am wrong. :o: Here's the language from the Technical Handbook:

Jumps that are not listed in the SOV (e.g. Walley, split jump, Inside Axel with any number of revolutions taking off from the forward inside edge etc.) will not count as a jump element but might be used as a special entrance to the jump to be considered in the mark for Transitions.

Super skate by Anna in the circumstances. Bravely went for the quad and was probably feeling disconcerted by the earlier incident and the need to hold back a bit, hence the flaws in the technicals.

Another victory, well done :clapper:
