2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

And I can't comprehend how they connected what Zhenya said to nose picking??? :confused2:

The nose picking analogy was made by someone who supports you side of the argument, other people just expanded it to show much sense it actually didn’t make. And based on how that very poster replied to you, my arguments have successfully gone in one ear and out the other :yahoo:.

Oh so some Russian fans hate her? That justifies everything! How dare I question their judgement!:disapp: shame on me!
I’m sure the booing would bring certain people immense satisfaction if it indeed happens.

Of course they haven't - they never said (or wrote) a sentence in their lives that they wouldn't happily have broadcast on national television. They are all sweetness, charity and filled to o'erflowing with the milk of human kindness.

The thing is, the fact that everybody does something sometimes does not make this thing good.
I mean, tons of people picked their noses at some point of life, still its not welcome at public for some reason =P

That's not a very good analogy. Evgenia didn't pick her nose in public, did she? She picked her nose in what she thought was private - it's not her fault if someone else broadcast her nose-picking on television. Er. So to speak.

That was not what the post I answered said, dude.

Here is the whole conversation, yes? Including the post you answered. In answer to the post you wrote in answer to my post, I answered your post, replyiing to the analogy you presented.

The whole point is that Evgenia did something in private that all of us at some point have done in private - made remarks that would not redound to our credit if later made public on television by a person we trusted.

I'm not sure why this is confusing to you? However, I see no need to clarify further, so if you are still in the dark, we will simply just drop the conversation here, if agreeable to you, as I see no need to go over the same ground again and again, without adding anything new.

I think we should respectfully acknowledge, that liberal and conservative societies have different moral sensitivities, keep the 'discrepancy protocol' in our minds for peaceful future and carry on with the topic. :agree:

Something interesting on fs financing in Russian provinces: interview with Yulia's first coach in Yekaterinburg, Elena Levkovec.
She earns 400$ per month, which apparently is quite a big money for a coach far away from Moscow and St Petersburg.
The 'standard' ice time provided by the state and municipality (1,5m people) for figure skating kids are three 45 minutes session per week, the rest is taken by other disciplines, public and private skating from 8AM till 8PM, so the parents collectively buy additional time in the late evening or early morning.
The skating equipment is basically fully covered by parents. In theory, the state should support buying skating boots for kids, but last year there had been only 5 pair of boots provided for whole Yekaterinburg region of 4.3m people!

I guess, apart from inferior coaching environment, those are the reasons young athletes migrate to Moscow and St Petersburg.

Yep, $400 is quite a lot of money. Outside moscow, it is quite unusual for someone to make more than USD 1k, in general.

Russia have sort of a tradition where all the good stuff is in Moscow (not just FS) and, to a certain degree, in St.Petersburg. For example, at your work, if you want to get promoted above a certain level, you will very likely have to move to Moscow. All the headquarters and everything are in Moscow. The amount of money government invests in Moscow is not comparable with what happens in the regions. Best universities are in Moscow. All cultural stuff happens in Moscow. Figure skating is a direct consequence.

ekb is a big city, but the situation in this region doesn't reflect the whole picture, there is a lot of places besides mocsow and spb where kids don't have problems with ice time. skating is not really developed there (i can't even remember one skater from ekaterinburg besides yulia),and i don't follw hockey so i'm not sure, but i think they don't have a hockey team in KHL, that's probably the main reason for lack of ice rinks and ice time.
lack of good coaches in regions thats really why athletes are moving
in general, if you remove moscow and spb from the map of russia, we have the same situation here that they have in the US. a lot of amateurs and that's it. moscow is the only place where we has a strong system that works. spb is still semi amateurish

well, figure skating fans are not soccer fans, they are mostly acting classy in public, and they don't want to hoot down on anybody, but the feelings are strong in these one. so i can't exclude a possibility of hearing some "boo" from a small amount of people at least. and i don't think it will changes with time, i think that the russian crowd is forever lost for her.
i'm one of those people who supported medvedeva in the past. but now i can't see myself rooting for her ever again, no matter what will happen. i don't hate her, from now on i just don't care at all

Why did you stop rooting for Med? Why would Russia not cheer for her? Because she left Eteri? smh.

Recognize the boy at 0:16 mark? :agree:

Eteri flipped the switch (or let it to be flipped) at Putin's inauguration. It was first time Alina was introduced and promoted as Olympic champion.
Tutberidze was 100% camp Evgenia, until the very end. Zhulin says she told him in private conversation, she wished Medvedeva won the Olympic gold.

I think when you find out your friend betrayed you, you're automatically into the game, no matter what people say. :scowl:

I dont know how Alina and her parents can accept this treatment. They are very special people. Eteri is lucky to have Alina.

As a foreigner, I'd say: What a shame on your patriotic madness.
I'm still trying to figure out, who are you putting to shame: tjb, all Russians, someone else, and why? Or are you just trying to extend someone's personal opinion about Medvedeva to a larger group of people and blame them all? I'd love to hear the answer...

Completely agreed. I don't comprehend how people dare to go like "morality this, morality that". Are they that innocent themselves?
I understand it somehow if you accuse people of disturbing the morality boundaries, and how vague boundaries they are, face to face and they have the chance to respond. But, sitting behind your computer and typing accusations of other people not being moral does not seem moral to me at all :confused2:

And, all in all, what Evgenia (might have) said is not exactly end of the world.

She didn't wish injury on Alina or conspired to have her fail a drug test. She privately wished Alina hadn't been there to block her from winning, in a very emotional moment. That's it.

Zhulin says she told him in private conversation, she wished Medvedeva won the Olympic gold

Now this makes me wonder where are all the people who say how immoral is to share private conversations, and why arent they bashing Zhulin.
Such revelation is literally as bad and reputation damaging as the stuff Eteri revealed about her and Med's private conversations.

So, to take the topic elsewhere (hope someone follows ;) ). Which new skaters has Eteri taken on lately?

I follow juniors but nothing below that, so not too sure who the stars are, apart from Sofia Akatieva.

Thank you! Didn't realize that she coached so many boys. As for the girls; I've heard of all except Maya, Dalian U. And Sofia T. They are probably some future stars in the making.

Maya Kromykh came from Tsareva, Pogorilaya's coach. She's born in 2006.
Daria Usacheva is also born in 2006.
Sofia Titova is born in 2008.
