2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

There is no rule for acceptable pre-rotation.
I guess that's true. The rules say "clear forward take off" and have the punishment as "downgraded jump" though, so my bet would be at 180 degrees because it makes little sense to downgrade a take off at less than 180 degrees but a landing at 180 degrees.

I see where you're coming from but I think it'd discourage people from following the juniors and make it harder for them to "accidentally stumble upon" a new junior or novice favorite... and that means that they'd miss a lot

That's fair! Although tbh I feel like this thread is 85% about Juniors

There's also the problem with defining juniors and seniors. Domestic seniors can be international juniors, skaters who are old enough for seniors can still be competing in juniors... It would just be a disaster.

I bet tars would start promoting Stasya in both threads :disapp:

Her 3axel was also worthy of +2 GOE

Hell yeah! Liza was so underappreciated last season, I was side-eyeing the judges so much!

I'm glad to see she's still continuing and I hope she gets a GP this year (I think I saw somewhere she's still eligible to go to one?)

Just can't wait to see in next season:
1) Trusova, Shcherbakova, Kostornaya and other Eteri juniors BTFOing the rest of the field at JGP series (*^ω^)八(⌒▽⌒)八(-‿‿- )ヽ
2) Evgenia vs Alina duels (`⌒*)O-(`⌒´Q)
3) Tsurskaya, Panenkova and Gubanova battle for the 3rd spot (((ง’ω’)و三 ง’ω’)ڡ≡ ☆⌒ミ((x_x)

P.S. And who said Stanislava Konstantinova? ✴==≡눈٩(`皿´҂)ง

Don't forget Radionova for that third spot. And they're all in the same team, wow.

Honestly, I think Radionova would be lucky to get more than 1 GP this year. She's guaranteed that 1, but her WS is out of the top 24 if I remember corectly, and she finished a distant 9th at Nationals. She's so clearly regressing that it's sad, and I think the Fed thinks the same way. Yet, she's got Buyanova on her side. But does she want to politick for Gubanova to get a GP spot (Rostelecom host spot) or does she want to focus on getting 2 for Radionova when she's got almost no chance of the final anyway?

Is she in the top 24 SB? I believe that typically in singles everyone in the top 24 SB ends up with two even though they are only guaranteed one. It's my impression that they use the SB list, not WS once they have the guaranteed spots done.

ETA: she's 13th on the SB list, I'd be shocked if she doesn't get two spots.

Hmm, yeah that's true. But usually people on the SB list don't have so much competition within their own country for the GP spots. But with her coach... yeah ...

I agree. Only a year ago, I was hoping something similar since I didn't follow juniors and had no idea who people were talking about a lot of the time.

But then somebody mentioned Anna Shcherbakova in last year's thread and I got curious. Then Brisbane JGP started and I watched just to have some figure skating to watch, and we had Sasha doing her ur quad. It's then when I realised what was happening: there were great talents in junior skating. It's also great fun to see those upcoming talents and guess where they'll be in the near and more distant future.

Yep I also got addicted to juniors through the Russian Ladies threads.
Before I didn't even pay attention, but then ended up watching and it was even better than seniors really, so <3

Junior ladies will be great again this year.

Actually, I kinda selfishly wish they would pass the 17 rule, then I would have only 3 skaters to watch seniors for.
Well, technically they can send 2 of those 3 back to juniors with the new age cap, and then i could literally just watch juniors =D

Don't lead them on!!

on another note, I'm kind of hoping that Samodurova gets the Rostelecom host spot this year. She's so lovely to watch and has really flown under the radar this year even though she made the JGPF. Of course, being injured didn't help but she showed us that she was back and upgraded her tech content! that's a real winner right there
