You feel this way just because you're her fan. She's not the only one being criticized(or "picked apart" if you wish). For example, remember when Ashley commented on Zagitova's FS at Olympics(something i didnt really care about even being Alina's fan)? There were threads with like dozens of pages criticizing Ashley to death, and that seemed ok for most of people. Now when someone dares to criticize Evgenia and it continues for just few pages, the bandwagon comes in and calls everyone a hater

1. I would say the same if any other skater would be talked about like this 2. Evgenia never directly criticized Alina or Eteri in such a way, even when she lost in the Olympics

And no, don‘t come to me with the „But Eteri said Medvedeva said about Alina...“ Unless we don‘t have proof, we can‘t take it seriously. With Ashley we had proof. But still, ultimately it doesn‘t even matter whether we have proof or not. In either case, both Med‘s and Ashley‘s, I don‘t hate on them because they said those things about Alina. I wouldn‘t hate on Ashley if she said them about Zhenya or any skater either. I would say that I don’t like this comment and it sounds rude (Zhenya’s comment about Alina was rude, too, btw, if she really said that. No need to deny that) BUT: Things like that can happen. Sometimes you do things wrongly, like Ashley did. What if? People need to understand that figure skaters are just regular human beings, they have emotions and worries, too. And yes, they say things which may be percieved wrongly. Hasn‘t that happened to any of you ever? Well, you must be perfect then, congrats. We should stop to put so much importance on a skater‘s words. We never know the backround story, in which context they were made. So, no, we don‘t say that „just because we‘re Zhenya‘s fans“. We say that because hating is unnecessary and destroys the mood here. Criticism is okay but no need to be spiteful. About anyone. I would be just as mad if people were saying such things about Alina or Tuktamysheva or Sotskova or anybody else.

Uhhh I never said hater and I'm always on this thread, I don't just pop in to defend Evgenia. Ashley was criticized for making much more overt negative comments directly against another skater, whereas with Evgenia people are nitpicking every single word she says, apparently.

I am Evgenia's fan but I'm not so biased as to not criticize her when I think she's wrong (I've said before that if her comment about keeping Alina in juniors was true, I 100% disagree with that sentiment, for example, as I very much enjoyed seeing Alina at the OG). I just find it baffling how scrutinized she gets, that's all

Look yoloaxel, personally I like your comments even if I don't agree sometimes. But I will give an example of how can someone accuse you as a hater.

I hope she has a good season! I was never a fan of her much bc of the complete lack of connection to the music but I do think she has some amazing jumps when she’s on!

Yes people was complaining how robotic she is and she is doing the same layout and stuff. And she did like 3-4 different EX numbers in one season. She can show her diversity in EX. It's a different story a competitive program that has to win a gold medal.

Yeah I totally get it! Personally, this is why I almost never use the term 'hater', I just think it gets thrown around too much. Criticism is fine for me! I guess it's frustrating when it seems like one skater receives it a lot more than others pretty much over nothing or things that are extremely blown out of proportion (at least, to me, ofc!), especially because I really do like this thread and all our beloved Russian ladies, and I enjoy coming here to read about them and instead lately I often find many, many messages written to harshly criticize one of them (who, incidentally, is my favorite one )

it has indeed been impressive, one of the many reasons I fell in love with her nearly 2 years ago when I got into fs but my best guess is we're only going to see one ex this season since she is with her new team and they have much more important things to work on.

Knowing eteri's team and exhibitions though, I am looking forwards to new Alina exhibitions. Since it's not oly year and the pressure is off, I hope we'll get more

One thing I do wonder is if they are going to be on the national team together at Euros or WC next year, how their interactions will look like. Say for example that they medal in the SP\in general and have to have press conferences, photo ops ecc ecc together

Yeah, I hope that, too! I just loved their friendship, it seemed like a mix of rivalry but genuine fondness of each other which was pretty cute. When Alina hugged Zhenya after the Olympics, you could see it was real. I like that and hope they won‘t be affected too much by this whole Eteri-Evgenia thing. But I fear that‘s what‘s gonna happen, unfortunately.

Well, Alina does get two new programs to work on, so I don‘t know whether they‘ll make too many EX programs for her. Maybe she‘ll keep her black swan as a second option? She used that before as an EX, didn‘t she? I would be fine with that, black swan is dramatic and suitable for an EX. But I already said it before in her fanfest: I‘d love to have her skate an exhibition program to tango music. And something lyrical for the freeskate! That would be perfect for her!

Rewatched the JWC's today and man were the Russian Ladies good. I missed Tarakanova though. Trusova has some beautiful jumps though it's too bad about her short program music. And Kostornoia has the most incredible performance and skating skills. Definitely not the kind of program where you ever want to look away. Gosh I can't wait to see their skating again next season especially now that Tarakanova's recovered from pneumonia.

Just a random example, let's take one of Alena Kostornaia's answers on her ask profile:
"Would you choose the Olympic gold and a lonely life or missing the Olympics but a happy family?" "Gold and loneliness". I am willing to bet that Zhenya had said these words there would be people here calling her selfish, self-entitled, ruthless, ecc ecc.

I really like Alena's attitude. From interviews, she's made it very clear that she can't wait to compete in seniors. She's tough as nails and a very strong competitor.
Also, if a male athlete said anything like that, nobody would bat an eye, but call him a go-getter.
