2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I found an info somewhere in VK, that Alina would like to do COR and NHK, but she won't get the first one.
Anybody knows why?

I think she can't get both because they are back to back and they are too far for her to do both. My bets were on Med doing NHK and Alina doing CoR, but maybe they are giving CoR to Zhenya as host pick since she only has 1 guaranteed spot to make it easier for her to get 2? Or maybe NHK want the OGM? Or maybe Alina will get CoR, it's not like she actually knows yet either!

no. Evgenia doesn't need a host pick. She is in the top SB and WR. Guaranteed 2 spots.

Guaranteed 2 spots via top 12 WC – Zagitova, Sotskova
Guaranteed 1 spot via top 24 SB, but in practice 2 due to number of spots to fill – Medvedeva, Tsurskaya, Radionova, Konstantinova, Tuktamysheva, Panenkova
1 spot via SB #29 Sofia SAMODUROVA
Host Pick 1 spot - Might be Pogorilaya/Gubanova/Samodurova/Sakhanovich or someone like Mihhailova :sarcasm:

Enough with technicalities, let's discuss bigger picture, for instance how tense relations between Iriska and Masaru may influence Khrustalnyi's preseason? Is this internal power shift something we should be worried about?

If not postet before, these are the Russian Team members for the 18-19 season:
Alina Zagitova
Evgenia Medvedeva
Maria Sotskova
Polina Tsurskaya
Stanislava Konstantinova
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

substitutes:
Elena Radionova
Anna Pogorilaya
Serafima Sakhanovich

I'm wondering if anybody tried to figure out who will get 2 GP assignments and how many assignment quota Russia will have in total? Quite important given how insanely crowded it is with the Russian women. If you have any info please post it, thank you.

Also made a post in the GP assignment thread:

Based on the team members, and especially Anastasiia and Daria being on the Junior team, it could be that Alina, Evgenia, Maria, Polina, Stanislava, Elizaveta and Elena will all get 2 spots i.e. 14 so far, and Serafima 1 (she can only get an invite).

The unknown is Anna P, but there is an article out there saying she's got her triples back (but not 3Lz-3T) and plans to attend the test skates. If so she should be able to get 2 spots i.e. a generous invitation and a Host Pick. If the latter then Anastasiia and Daria could be on the outside looking in unless they go for 2 Host Picks i.e. team at Rostelecom = Alina, Anna P and Daria/Anastasiia - sounds decent enough. Also it could mean Alena Leonova could get an invite, yet again the only 1 she can get. If Anna P doesn't skate then I imagine they would go through with Daria's guaranteed spot, and Anna's Host Pick could go to either Daria or Anastasiia - we'll all know in 2 weeks time!

To be honest, I'm very curious how Evgenias Programs will differ from the ones she had before. They were all pretty similar in the past couple of years although she grew up quite a bit. I'll wonder if we will see a bit more of her own personality in the programs now. :)

I wonder about that, too. Personally, I loved her Memory and Experience programs and at least the latter she choreographed herself and I think you could see her personality shining through in both of them. But I‘m curious what her programs will look like now she‘s not with Eteri and Daniil and Averbukh anymore. I guess they will differ quite a big, to showcase the change she made. Maybe something a bit more upbeat? But she‘s always been more of a melancholic type in her skating so I wouldn‘t mind if she keeps that. Just curious whether she‘ll keep the miming, too. ;)

I am not sure...
The program she choreographed itself was literally screaming Averbukh, both in choreo and in music choice. I suppose that if she wanted something different, she could have easily gone for it.

I agree that it looked like an Averbukh program, which is why I preferred the other EX  but to be fair to her, Averbukh's choreography is pretty much all she's known in her senior career, excluding AK, so I think she still has to develop her own style and taste. I hope she'll have the chance to do so in the upcoming years :)

By the way.. if we discussing EXs, i have to say that recent Medvedeva's EX (Cuckoo) is probably the worst i've ever seen. Her EX from Worlds 2017 was way better.

For me, it was the most powerful and meaningful of all Zhenya's programs, right in the middle of the bacchanalia in WADA, and definitely the best among her exhibitions.

Exactly. Euros Ex was her best performance ever, I've never seen her so authentic and passionate ever before or later, it was like emotional outburst after losing to Zagitova. Great stuff to watch.

I am biased, because i love when skaters use russian music.
Aside the music, it is kinda generic.
