2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Overall, I think seniors are easier for Panenkova than juniors. She cannot beat the other juniors, see her placements at GPF for example.
But in seniors, she could try to fight for the #3 spot, since her jumps are less URd than Sotskova's and she is more consistent than Tsurskaya and Tuktamysheva. Also, in seniors, she would be #2 senior in Eteri's team, while in juniors, she would be likely #4 or so, which means she will likely get better programs and overall more attention as a senior.

I dunno, imho, if it depended on Eteri and Panenkova only, i would say seniors are a sure bet.
As for Rusfed, I see how they can hold her back because Buianova, Mishin and Chebotareva.

This is exactly what I was trying to say

I wish they had these element competitions with identical step sequences like they do in basic novice and advanced novice. It's very interesting seeing everyone performing the exact same step sequence and really helps you see how skaters' skating skills compare. For example, Samodelkina is considered the best skater for the age group that's junior eligible in 2020-2021, but Muravyeva completely crushes her in the step sequence here. And the step sequences of skaters like Moroz or Chistyakova are very significantly worse than the step sequence of Kanysheva, for instance. It's very interesting and I'll be paying special attention to it next season because I'm curious about how several girls will do perform there.

Which of Tarakanova, Shcherbakova, Trusova and Kostornaya do you think Panenkova would be ahead of?

She definitely should be in seniors this season, it's much lighter in competition and in seniors, being consistent and jumping 7 triples will take you much further than in juniors.

My guess for #4 was that she would be behind Shcherbakova, Trusova and Kostornaya, but somewhat tied with Tarakanova, since they have similar scoring potential and Tarakanova is more inconsistent and had health issues.

omg Trusova’s doing Kill Bill???
YASSSSS! yes yes yes!!
I don’t even want to be this excited because I love the Kill Bill soundtrack too much and just want someone to make it justice, but I have a feeling it will be a great program!

I think they're good and on the right track, but too frantic and lacking the refinement / control of Lopatkina. But she's nine, so...

They don't have to be at the level of Lopatkina to be "ballet arms"... I'd like to see 9yo ballet dancers for comparison, though. To me the movements are very soft overall. Ah, and she's 10 now, just was 9 in that video.

The only other with such ballet arms that I've seen this season would be this. ...Which obviously isn't nearly as good, but she's 4yo there. By the way, her skating club's name actually is "Ballet on Ice" so it should be a thing. Too bad it doesn't have any decent skaters, such an interesting concept.

I wish Russian ladies could have arms like Ulyana Lopatkina...

Nice wish...
You know, I was lucky to watch the dying swan perfomance live... And I must confess, that all the other perfomancecs of Mariinsky stars were smashed by Ulyana. The whole audience was crying, huge standing ovation... I don't even remember what perfomance was after her... Lopatkina is beyond the reach, not only for figure skaters;)...

I wonder why Tarakanova keeps missing training. She’s always missing from group pics and videos. And it’s not just a recent thing, she’s been missing in a lot of pics even when she was with Panova.

Apparently she is battling an illness. I came on here to see if there were any news/updates on her. It's honestly starting to worry me because she's been gone since like December. :(
