I somehow think that Averbukh can do a reasonably varied range of stuff. I mean, see his programs for Ice Age Kids.
Zhenya's programs were all same not because he is that limited, but because that style works great for her (and it does).

Oh i just dont wanna start this discussion, since we will be labelled haters and requested to shut up.

Overall, i think that there are many skaters that are good in a very small range of styles. Which is not bad.
There are actually very few artists who great at both portraits and landscapes. If a skater keeps doing, artistically, what he/she can perform the best, why not?
Speaking of Med, I am actually curious to see if she will get different programs for the next season. If yes, we will be able to fairly judge if she is limited as we suspect, or it was all Averbukh and Eteri wrongdoing =)

Alina and Evgenia are very different, that‘s true. I wouldn‘t say that one of them is „limited“ in their expressions, though. Evgenia had programs with miming because that‘s her style, something iconic and not everybody can like them. Alina had something like this, too, her ballet programs and her tutus. I think they‘re merely things that make these skaters unique. Evgenia‘s not as naturally talented in jumps, I can agree on that, Alina‘s jumps do look better. But she has a very fine sense for the music, is elegant and artistic. This has always been her strength. Have you seen her Memory exhibition? It‘s a program without any miming, I think.

We will all see if Med's limited during this season I guess. Because I doubt she will choose the same style of music again this season because she already said in an interview that she got fed up with it.

What is natural talent compared to hard work? I’d take hard work any day.

(Nothing against Alina btw. Unlike you, I don’t constantly talk about skaters who aren’t my faves)

I don’t think natural talent/hard work have much to do with miming, and I don’t think miming has much to do with achievements. If Zhenya had just been miming but hadn’t consistently delivered her programs’ technical side, she would have achieved nothing.

That said, Alina is a beautiful skater and she’s obviously naturally talented, but I would argue that performance wise she really does have a long way to go. Her DQ interpretation was a forced smile from start to finish. I hope she will work on performance and keep improving because she definitely has the goods for it.

As for Zhenya, it’s pretty obvious that you dislike her personally so I don’t think discussing it makes much sense. Personally I’m not a fan of too much miming so I have hopes that she will tone her expressions down a little - that say, I do think she seems very invested in what she is skating which is something that I personally appreciate.
