2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Well I thought Eteri was a bit cold to Alina. I wish she went to congratulate her at least. Don’t forget she asked to not call her the Olympic champion and that’s awful to little Alina who worked very hard.

I‘m sorry if I‘ve missed something but who told whom to not call Alina Olympic Champion? Eteri or Evgenia? And when did this happen? And why, I mean, what was the occasion it was said at?🤔

Eteri to some reporters if I recall correctly.

In general, I think it's important to remember that different people need / want to be treated differently and it's really not up to an outsider to decide whether that's good or bad for them. If I use myself as an example, I absolutely wouldn't want anyone to try to comfort me if I had a poor performance or somesuch and if a person knowing that didn't comfort me and completely ignored me instead, they're not being cold, they're doing exactly what I want them to.

My opinion has changed regarding Evgenia, but for the better.
I appreciate her for being so smart, trustworthy and for having such a mental strength.
She chose to fight, and to be brave to leave her comfort zone, when more than sure there were other easier options such as taking the route of the shows or another career.
And more important, she wants to develop, to learn and experiment more things, different ones. And also she learned from the past, now I find her more humble.
And yes, nobody is perfect so I just don't gonna blame her for some words said in such a difficult context.

Yes, you’re right. Well, I guess if Alina didn’t take it the wrong way it’s okay. But that remark from Eteri really wasn’t nice, Alina is the Olympic champion.

Yes, but what was the cause of that reaction? Just a moment before Evgenia said to her coach that you have your Olympic champion congratulations, she was upset. My feeling is: she was trying to manage the situation by keeping some balance and not make it worse to Evgenia. Did you imagine, if she went to Alina and jumping out of joy that they won the gold medal? The entire team was upset, Dudakov was trying to hide what they were saying in K&K... . The hall situation was to calm Evgenia, that's why they didn't want to call Alina a champion even the days after. This is my feeling and opinion about that days. Which may be wrong.

Not because they didn't like Alina and fell in love with her now.

And I don't think Eteri is a saint. Actually, I blaming her for Alina's bad world performance. Another strange feeling I have. It was a lifetime chance for her to win worlds and I don't know if she will have any the years to come.

But you’re talking as if Zhenya didn’t accept her place. After the K&C, what did she do ? She went to hug Alina and congratulate her for a long time. Evgenia said she gave her everything, and accepted her score. And I’m sorry, but that still doesn’t explain the comment.

I'm in the opposite opinion about the comfort zone. I think she is now in her comfort zone, the un-comfort could have been to stay and be number one, as she is, in Eteri's team.

I agree with the experiment more thing, different ones etc...

Come on now, what did you expect to not congratulate her?

And I'm talking as if it is written in my words ...

This. We never know what happens behind the scenes and we never know why people act the way they do. We can speculate, but what‘s really going on, we’ll never know unless we‘re told. And even then we can‘t be sure whether that‘s the entire truth or not, they‘re always two sides to a story. We‘re outsiders, we observe from the TV and occasionally from the stands next to a figure skating rink. We might have listened to every interview from our favourite skaters, watched every program they ever did countless of times. We might even think we „know“ them and maybe we do have a good idea about how they present themselves to the public. But still, in reality, we only know an image. We don’t know the skaters. We do not know the coaches either. And if we judge - which is perfectly fine because everyone should be allowed to express their opinions - we still need to be aware of the fact that this is just just an assumption based on our personal feelings. :)

Let’s please not have another debate about the same thing :)

On to other things, do you think Anna S. and Evgenia will showcase one of their new programs at DOI if they had them done?

I hope so. Generally, I wonder about Anna‘s programs. Do we know anything about them yet? The music for Alena and Sasha is already known but for Anna? I‘m really interested. Even though I wouldn‘t mind seeing her old FS again, maybe with a different set of jumps? Very exciting!!

It's interesting ...

Who cares about Anna's program anyway her lutz is more interesting.

I wouldn’t mind if she kept her SP from last season. It’s very musical (obviously) and she didn’t get to showcase it properly.

The hope is that we'll see both of Anna's programs there. At least that's been my expectation... Eteri's junior girls don't really have ex programs and in the past, her competition programs are what she's done as ex. Of course, they could be her old programs as well but I really hope they'd be her new programs.

... Which now made me realize that if she makes the JGPF and does well there, there's the possibility of her doing her old FS as an exhibition program? A long shot, I guess...

She had many alterations that I wasn't a fan of, either. I would hope that she'd perform the Lutz entry she did in her very first appearance of the season and removed since. But the issue is that it's a fully backloaded program. They'd need to something about it.

Alena said Anna will have new FS.
so I think Anna will keep her current SP.

I want to know what's going on with Tarakanova's programs because in my opinion they were some of Daniil's best work and if she has been ill and unable to train as much I would love if she could keep her FS as it is one of my favourite programs from last season.

However, I would love it if they could give her a really calm and powerful short program which would show of her skating skills as I thought having both of her programs being quite frenzied did make her look slightly out of control especially considering that as a skater she is slightly rough around the edges which part of what I find so interesting about her. I think she could do somethign amazing if they gave her a slower less busy program to emphasis her control and she does perform the sock off of any program that she is given and out of all of Eteri's skaters I think she can skate to the more powerful music as she has the speed and strength to match it and not be overwhelmed as she both skates and performs quite big.

I'm just going to drop this stuff here. I don't want to start anything or get into an argument with anyone, but I'm sick of seeing Evgenia blamed for Eteri's behavior, like Evgenia was some kind of diva that everyone was tip-toeing around. https://russian.rt.com/sport/news/510334-zhulin-tutberizde-medvedeva-zoloto-oi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVCD4u1fcuM ........There was also a press-conference where Eteri said that Med was still unbeatable and only lost gold because she was injured.

None Russian speaker here. In short, what does the comment say?😅

Finally, someone said this!
