2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

So after seeing pictures of Dasha emerge I’m becoming extra antsy to know what programs she is doing. Someone has to know something.

I'm sorry if I offended you I just thought it would be a nice gesture as some people had misgivings about her having foreign choreography, foreign training and foreign music and I thought it would be a nice symbol personally even if it is just a realtively niche russian composer. It was never my intention to do so and as a result I'll drop this topic as I don't see the point.
You didn't offend me, I am sorry if it came across that way. It was an interesting discussion. I am just not sure Russian fans truly care about this and it is going to bring Evgenia goodwill. It can't hurt, I suppose.

I tell you. After jMedvedevaj went to Canada ET has two main pillars - Zagitova & Panenkova. To Darya they changed evething - make-up, costumes, music, choreo, JUMPS. They will be as the thread with the needle, as Trusova and Kostornaya.

To be honest, "Evgenia should at least have a Russian-themed program" is the one thing I have not heard from Russian fans on Russian forums. Nobody seems to particularly care either way.
Exactly, Orlov is talking about choreography that is informed by Russian culture/artistic sensibility regardless of the music composer or origin of the narrative.

To him a Russian skater or performance artist who is performing something that is not conceived entirely by people that understand the tradition, will seem discordant.

This includes things like the gestures, expressions and pattern of movement from Russian character dance, ballet and theatre traditions.

It's a code that Russians understand intuitively, and Russian audiences will miss this.

I don't know, I think judges will not be so lenient with juniors on GOEs so I expect max +3 for their jumps. It can go in the direction you are pointing at, but the gain will not be so significant.

Oh, that's true, I forgot about the GOE gap between juniors/seniors. I was just thinking along to lines of "Trusova's coming to JGP with a possible 4Lz, and I wouldn't doubt her ability to set new records with it." The 4T and 4S is wildly impressive, but I'm sure she'll be delivering new surprises to us soon. :)

The thread is now re-opened. We have removed a number of posts that derailed the discussions (or quoted those posts).

Please refrain from bringing politics, including a skater's patriotism and allegence, and or unfounded speculations. Stick to talking about Russian skaters. Do not bicker, report posts.

At this point, anyone who proceeds to break forum rules will receive warnings and infractions.

Thank you for your cooperation.

We are going to temporarily close this thread for administrative management.

We'll re-open it when we're done. Remember the Golden Skate guidelline to "Keep posts positive." https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?18607

God hopefully people will calm down and stop writing thriller fanfictions in this thread. :laugh2:
Do you guys know when Dreams on Ice is airing? I've seen pictures on twitter and i am so excited to see Scherbakova skate! It seems she did Chopin so i guess she keeps her SP for next season? Great, i loved it and i want to see more of it

Examined new ISU rules and came to the conclusion that in the new season Eteri girls are going to win already on the results of SP. Now in SP is obligatory to have any 3+3 cascade. USNats 2018 - from 22 pts 10 did not plan 3+3, 7 failed, 5 managed, but only two of them Tennell and Bell(i l**e her so much) received in all other elements positive GOE. CanadaChamps 2018 - from 18 pts only 3 jumped 3+3.

Etery//other russian girls SP - 2+1 - 3A, 3Lz, 3Lz+3Lo/3F = 80+// 3Lz, 3F/Lo/S, 3F+3T =70+. By the way Daniil Samsonov (13 y.o.) control StSq4 Etery Style under ISU new requirements https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wxNTp2mIIQ Think the girls will not be worse. This is her NATURE...

I don't know how to interpret this, but Evgenia has always looked healthy to me and still appears to be so. I'm also impressed by her managing to have the lutz fixed on a double already -- it surely will be a triple soon!

By the way, I love your new avatar! Anya looked stunning!

who has her double lutz fixed already? Zhenya? how do you know? :eeking:

Yeah, I love that she‘s working so hard on her lutz. I remember some skaters started to rework their technique after injuries, starting with doubles and slowly building up to triples and maybe that‘s what Evgenia‘s doing. Getting rid of the tano on the lutz might also help her, too. Only focus on the edge for now, no tano, no difficult entry or exit, just do the jump correctly. Maybe not this season but next she can put more than one lutz in her programs!!

Oh, and on the topic of lutzes... I was bored so I scrolled through fan fests and look at this diamond I found:

I don‘t know who made this gif but just look at this jump. She‘s flying! :o

Is that Polina? :luv17:

So, because Russia isn’t hosting a jgp this year, only 2 Russian girls will be at any of the 6 events?

And now a 3-3 combo is mandatory in the sp?? Is this true?

oh wow already? that's awesome! is that some kind of TCC witchcraft or what :jaw:

Well, I agree that it‘s hard not to get too excited but we really only have one post on twitter from a spectator claiming this. I don‘t say we should disregard it, not at all. Evgenia never jumps lutzes in her ex programs so this is a clear message. "I‘m aware of the issue and I‘m working very hard on it“ Yet, I‘d be careful on calling this witchcraft or something. A double isn‘t a triple yet and while I‘d love to have her rework her lutz this quickly, landing it in competitions is something else entirely. Still, she is doing a tremendous effort and I hope it works out for her!

Her mature skating was favorably different from unconvincing presentation of their SP by Japan/South Korea ladies, not to mention Shcherbakova - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvz2fbZsz1c
Judging from the fact that 2Lz failed leg/back injury still bother her. It is hoped that since the beginning of September health issues will be resolved by excellent medicine in Canada.

2 girls each at 7 events
I don’t know about the 3-3 but all the top Russian ladies do them anyway so they should be fine
