2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

. now Alina knows she wanted her other favorite to win instead of her lmao, .

We have only one source, so i´am sceptical but even if it´s true, Eteri´s action in the olympic season raises question. For example why did she let Zhenya start in Japan? Why did she not allow Zhenya to increase her jump layout in January? Zhenya wanted it according to russian sources.

but who exactly paid with their health for having success under eteri?

Zhenya for example. Her injuries came from the wrong training (overtrained already in September).

She tried to increase her BV in the beginning of the year, which ended in September. If they increased TES again in january, do we know if she would be able to compete at all? After all, by the end of december, she was still not in shape to even participate in Rusnats, and then after the Olympics, she was injured again and had to skip Worlds. I mean, Zhenya wanted to, understandable, but could she, actually?

With all due respect, I love the logic. Zhenya tried increasing TES and then had an injury related to overtraining (i see some possible correlation here), bad Eteri, she made Zhenya overtrain. Now, in january, Zhenya, with her injury barely healed, wants to increase her TES again. Bad Eteri for not letting her get injured again right before the Olympics.

Eteri is not a saint, but be fair here.

I do agree with this. I'm not one who is liable to rush to Eteri's defence, but increasing Evgenia's workload/technical difficulty when she was already suffering from an injury would have been a terrible idea.

I see no correlation by Zhenya between increasing her BV and the injury. Her injury was a fatigue fracture, so it was simply the wrong training in my opinion. Regardless with BV increase or without.

About the January jump layout increase, i was responding to leoleo who claimed that Eteri wanted Gold for Zhenya. If that it´s the case then she would say yes to her jump layout increase.

Yes, i think so. Ofc the risk for a fall would be higher.

The correlation between BV and injury is kinda simply - harder layout, harder training, since she would need to train more, and likely fall more during training and so on.

It was not about risk of fall. Zhenya was recovering from injury.
In january, it was not about increasing her BV, but bringing her to Olympics in competitive shape, quite obviously. There is literally no way any sensible coach would have said yet to harder jump layout under such circumstances, imho. If Eteri allowed her to increase her BV in january, I would be the first to bash for not caring about her skaters health.

As explained, it was a fatigue fracture. I think with different training methods her injury would not happen. Also Eteri did not stop her to train in September where her injury story began. Especially in the olympic season, i would say in September "Zhenya, jump trainings stop until you are by 100%":)

The health issue was in January only secondary becauase the Olympics are only every four years. Zhenya is not a stupid girl, she knew that she will lose Gold when Alina stays clean.

Why people make such a big deal of athletes leaving Eteri? Plenty of other athletes have left their coaches for her (including Tarakanova and Kostornaya last year). Why there's this constant need to blame the federation or Buyanova or Tarasova or someone else? Her athletes have free will and they have their parents or guardians to help them make these choices.

In addition, whatever works for a 14 year old doesn't always work for a 17 year old. It's not always about the results, psychological and physical well being are more important.

ok, so zhenya was apparently overtrained in september and was injured so how would that make sense for Eteri to raise her BV? higher BV means you need to train even harder and eteri also has to make sure they're consistent in competition, zhenya especially since her consistency is her best weapon. her injury would have gotten a lot more serious trying to jump 3Lz-3Los. by the way i did not intend to bring back the "who's eteri little favorite girl" conversation. I was only joking that Eteri & Alina must have been awkward after the whole medogate drama with all the things that came out of everybody's mouth. My argument was about people saying eteri students achieve success but have to pay with their health and i still stand by my opinion that we have no real proof of that (at least not yet). Zhenya getting injured is not a one of a kind occurrence, skaters get injured from training all the time under every single coach and by may Zhenya had already recovered. It's not like eteri ruined her by leaving her with a career-ending injury or something. I do not like Eteri by the way but it seems many people exaggerate the whole evil eteri argument :scratch2:

This has two phases:
1) Till Zhenya's departure - evil Eteri prefered flutzing Zhenya and did everything for her support, but poor Cinderella-Alina prevailed despite her conspiracies.
2) After Zhenya's departure - evil Eteri refused to raise miraculous Zhenya's BV and prevented her to deservedly win the OG in favor to her mindless home-made robot Alina model 1.

As many have said before, Eteri isn't saint but this is really starting to be annoying.

Me watching this thread deteriorate into Zhenya/Eteri talk again: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-opK3mpUMN...0dh0/s1600/tumblr_lnh9kpOTUY1qbgyx2o1_500.gif

It would be nice if you could go back to Panenkova now, which is actually topical. Both Eteri and Zhenya have moved on.

Thanks for attending my Ted talk.

the thread was actually going on about many eteri students leaving in a few months and people speculating as to why all of them are leaving; so some brought the argument that her students go through serious injuries, one used zhenya's example. The thread is not deteriorating to zhenya/eteri again and no one is trolling i think, people are just arguing through sharing different opinions. I thought that's why we're here

I only hope Dasha will get to a new and very good place. As long as she feels good, that place is already much better than Eteri's camp.

Daria answered at her ask she'll jump all jumps with rippon and will have 3 jumping passes in second half of new programs. This girl knows how to keep the tension.

good news! do we know if she's planning to increase her base value? it's a good thing she's staying motivated to work hard.
By the way what do the new rules say about rippons and tanos? i thought you no longer get a particular bonus for doing them

I think the new rules are basically a more vague version of the old rules. If I remember correctly, it merely says good air position or something along those lines.
