2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Black swan of Alina was a true masterpiece which grew to its full potential during the Olympics. It could only be rivaled by another masterpiece of Evgenya. All other short programs including those that were praized here thousands times were not even close especially live. I see the same potential in her new SP. She will surely work around rough edges and I hope that no puberty issues will prevent her from shining as bright as she did last season.

Guys, as Russia is leading nationality and in ladies figure skating, I feel like every performance that could be potentially threatening Russian domination needs to be signalized in this thread.

This is absolutely amazing, Yuna Kim'ish stuff and what's even more important, while most of senior Russian ladies are quite maxed out, simply because of immense competition - this girl is not even close to her limits, you can see all the small glitches here and there, but also realize she's like a spring with loads of slowly released potential: jumps may become higher, landings steadier, artistry more refined, etc..
This is not gloating, I still adore Russian babies, but deep inside we all want more competition, don't we? ;)

She has improved, no doubt. Still not quite there. My problem with her program is that after a very impressive first part comes kind of boring second one. It's not like Zagitova/Medvedeva's programs that I mentioned earlier which I watched holding my breathfrom the first till the last second. And I have the answer to it: backloading. When you do SS with fresh legs it might be more entertaining: better speed and energy. And in the second half there are jumps which are never boring. So, in fact I just developed a hypothesis that backloading makes programs more watchable....

Rewatched another time - yes, she is very good and can be a threat if clean with good TES.

I feel like it is a special part of her program and love the "music box" quality. It still feels disjointed, but I guess that is the point.
Alina's music box ballerina is just mesmerizing. It's a pity that's the only moment when I can really enjoy her performance.
Can anybody tell Danill that sometimes less means more? Why she must rush all the time despite of the music tempo? Why she must move so frenetic during the lyrical part? Please let Alina slow down for 30 seconds...

she did improve a lot and she's a joy to watch, i'm excited about seeing her FS but i find that this program is missing a lil something! a wow moment! the judges seem to love it tho so good for her

She's finally not skating to K-pop which is a huge relief. And she's finally not jumping close to the boards!
The programme lacks the highlighting moment, I agree, but it is already such a tremendous improvement as compared to her junior days. I, too, am also looking forward to seeing her FS

I like alinas POTO. It seems already more polished and less rushed than her swan in most of the competitions of last season.

i can't believe we still know nothing about Gubanova's programs :drama: what do i have to sacrifice?

She only has 1 GP, though, so she won't get the scores at worlds. And we have to remember that under the new system, no one is maxed out. More competition is good, but the Russians haven't skated under the new system and could easily get 3-4 points more than before in the short. We shall have to wait and see.

I will be honest too. I absolutely do not believe anyone who says he likes/is fan of Alina but the ONLY TIME I can read this guy's comment of Alina is when he criticizes anything related to her ("I love, but..." comments). And that's with some comments on POTO in crystal form. C'mon ;)
As is frequently said... "But" is a word that completely nullifies anything said before it. Re-read all these messages while cutting out "but" and anything before them to get the true message.

Frequently, the reason these people use "but" is for the "look I'm not a hater, I swear" - cop out.
