2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Unless someone has real info to share I put forward a conspiracy theory: there are ongoing tough negotiations between Orser/Medvedeva and the Fed regarding her participation in the test skates. That's why despite almost mid August there is no clarity where and when exactly they will take place.

Last year by this time I already had bought the tickets.

Are you serious? :scratch2: Well, I had Rostelecom, Nationals, and Europeans tickets by this time last year. There's none now. Those must be pretty intense negotiations then!

Didn't it occur to you that Fed is probably still negotiating with Megasport or some other arena for the test skates? Or has some other problem?

Orser & Medo have no reason to not want to participate in the test skates organized by the rusfed tho. She's just training in Canada but she's still russian & dependent on the rusfed. They help fund her training just in case you forgot. There are really no reasons for them to need to negotiate for her to participate. :scratch2: plus there are so many people involved in the test skates, why would they organize everything around Medo's attendance?
i just want to know why you think that.

I think it's not about the participation per se but about specific dates convenient to them.

I just don't have another explanation. Before test skates were announced in early summer and tickets were sold already in July. It's August 7 today and I could not find no info at all about this year test skates. Any other idea?

Rostelecom starts to sell in August. Nationals are in December - one cannot compare them with test skates which usually take place in the first decade of September.

Test skates were done in Sochi not even at main venue Iceberg where Averbukh's show take place - at Shaiba. No I don't believe that venue negotiations is the reason. Should be something else.

Weren’t the dates already announced? I could’ve sworn I read it somewhere here, and that it will be in Moscow instead of Sochi this time. Don’t remember the exact dates though.

It is known already that test skates are in Moscow on September 8-9. The delay could be due to the transfer from Sochi to Moscow. There are also rumours that finances are cut this year.
Anyway, there is no reason to suspect that one coach makes others wait, this is ridiculous.

everything seems to be late this year tho! think of how late the GP assignments came out for example. Other events haven't even started selling tickets yet. I believe Zhenya is used to it now, she knows that she should be ready for test skates sometimes in early/mid september so she knows she should make time for it. There's nothing in her schedule that could stop her from making time for test skates. She made time to go to Japan for Dreams On Ice, she'll definitely make time to show the Rusfed and russian fans what she's been working on with her new coaching team. Remember, all eyes are on her this season. Many russian doubt her choice to change coach. She has things to prove :hap10: She also sounds very excited in her interviews, she announced her new programs herself on instagram. I bet she's more excited to show us her new programs than we are to see them

I believe it's an organization problem, things are going slow this off-season. We still have no details about Hanyu's media days for example even tho they happened around this time last year.

A number of coach switching and splits? New ISU regulations? Enormous heat? Resting after intensive Olympic season?

Well, Medvedeva is the embodiment of this. Of course, having other switches aggravate the situation.

Other reasons do not seem probable. Like despite the intensive Olympic season the schedule of B and other events stay the same. The test skates among others are used to make selection decisions for early events. Hence, if they are postponed it will mean more pressure on everyone.

One good explanation is that this year they are not going to be public so that no tickets will be sold and, hence, no announcement has been made.

Related to that one is that the Fed did not get the funding for test skates. Taking all crews to Sochi, hosting them when the vacation season is still on should be expensive. The tickets to the public cost close to nothing to make up for it. Hence, it may be even not Moscow but Novogorsk and no public this time.

yeah, I also remember it was announced, it would be around 8-10 Sep in Moscow Megasport Arena....if I find the link will post it here.

What? You mean to tell me I haven't posted in this thread at all and it's already up to 387 pages?

So here for the all Russian Ladies but especially the Tsarina Alina, she's reigning above them all. :D

How are you? Hope you're doing well. :D

Ok so I was just freezing at the ice rink and when I come home, turn my mobile on just to catch up with the Russian ladies and this is the first thing I see... apparently Med and Orser are so powerful to the point they hail the test skate organized by Russian fed in Russia which is half a globe away from Toronto?
Oh come on... it’s a test skate! One does not have to spend all political resources on a test skate. Just give them a call saying: “I caught a cold, sorry.”
Please think of something more logical if you’re going to post conspiracy next time.

It is hilarious to me how far people are reaching to try to put everything on Evgenia. Oh my god, the temperatures this summer have been so hot and we have had so little rain so it just be because Evgenia took off to Canada to train with devil incarnate while Saint Eteri cries into her bouquet of flowers that Evgenia did not send. LOL

Wow, Sisnytsina is going for broke in her FS. 3S, 3F, 2A, / 2A, 3Lz+3Lo, 3Lz+3T, 3S+2T+2Lo. Completely clean!

Sounds like something that could happen in an post Olympic season.
Since there were some drastic rule changes, I see how they would want to not hurry into test skates to give skaters and judges more time to figure the new stuff out.
