2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Choosing the music for the program isn't the same thing as choreographing it before the rule changes are known, though...

What's the odds for Ryabova to medal at JGP?
Depends on the level of her assignments, but I really don't expect very much out of her.

Yes. The idea being it starts with a soft lyrical theme and then transitions to a strong build up for all her jumps starting with the combo. Like they did last season. Although they did add a jump in the “think of me” section but I think originally all jumps were meant to be backloaded. Why wouldn’t they have planned to keep their strategy from last year? It had to be reworked after the rule change.

It's very chopped (keyframes? what are these ), but here you are

Katya is in the entry list for JGP Kaunas. Undoubtedly Sasha has #1 locked and Kany will probably seize the silver. What are the chances of Katya getting the bronze over Nana Araki and Ye Lim Kim?

She has some quality I really like, and I sincerely wish her success.

Thank you!!! Still doesn’t quite flow. I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but am seriously not sure what is going on with the program. Zhenya changed her FS last year after test skates? I’m hoping they change this or at least rework it significantly. It has some great moments but there is no flow/transition between music cuts.

Nana Araki is one of the better japanese juniors this season with a PB in the 180s so I'd expect her to be on the podium unless she has a meltdown. It's difficult to predict anything about Ryabova because we have no idea what state her jumps are in/what her layout will be.....IMHO if Ryabova medals it would be a very worrying sign about the situation in the junior ladies field.

In an ideal world, the podium there should be:
Trusova
Kanysheva
Araki
and then Kim. Ryabova I would expect to be fifth, maybe fourth if she's lucky.

I just don't remember... Was she at Tsareva? Anyway, she's been a 170-180 point skater and Nana Araki is a 170-180 point skater. If she's at Tsareva that's a good enough coach to allow her to improve. I think it's possible she gets 3rd if she's improved a healthy amount and skates clean. Kanysheva also isn't so stable so I guess it's possible she falters. But I think it'd be a surprise if she podiums... Unless she really has improved.

She was with Davydov.
Yes in the past but she left Davydov.

IIRC it was her who had the rant about Davydov only concentrating on Anna Tarusina and not paying enough attention to her, hopefully I'm not thinking of someone else.

She's at Plushenko's.
Oh so it was Plushenko. Sigh. Well, then I'm feeling quite a bit less confident about that chance than if she'd been with Tsareva.

Oyy, yeah I think that was her.

I feel that if a skater medals at the final they should definitely be given two spots. I understand that Tarakanova has been sick and other girls have beat her since that performance, but she is jumping triples again and I think she deserves an opportunity to defend her past accomplishments.
If it comes down to Tarakanova vs Sinitsyna, I would definitely send Tarakanova. It’s unfortunate that that would mean Sinitsyna couldn’t have two spots because is such a talented skater, but there just aren’t enough to go around.

There would be if they would just take Gubanova out of junior assignments. No test skates should mean no JGP.

Anna's 4Lutz during warmup here.

Completely around, doesn't even hook at all on landing. And the air time's the exact same as Trusova has for her 4Lutz, perhaps even slightly higher. It still puzzles me how she can have just about the tiniest jumps out of any junior and still be able to perform this. Also, the sound on landing is so soft.

Gorshkov was very positive about her which is great to see! https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20180807/1140179643.html
