I can't believe Tarusina has to start the competition, and that Shcherbakova isn't in the final group either, but yet BOTH Japanese ended up there somehow...

It already happened, but results haven't been published yet.
The Sp has random draw so the gruops have nothing to do with skill or ranking

It's a random draw. Everything is believable when that happens. And both JPN girls arent in the final group either.

I know, but it just seems rather odd that both of them made the penultimate group and no Russians or Koreans did.
I hope that Tarusina receives an amazing score, and keeps that 1st place rank through the whole competition. It would be cool if nobody scores higher than the very first skater!

First group or final group, if the Russians are as good as people say they are, does it matter when they skate?

well its a luck? and Trusova skate early in 1st JGP and
either Kostornaia or other russian also skated ealry as well in last season JGP. its also odd that 2 Korean skater are after another in same group too, but its the power of randomness

In some sense, yes it does. The first groups usually tend to get somewhat ”lower“ scores because the judges are waiting for something better so to say. But ultimately, if they skate very well, it shouldn‘t. Overall, luck decides. Neither Tarusina nor Shcherbakova were very lucky. First to skate is almost terrible and last in the group isn‘t that good either - you have to wait rather long after warming up and it‘s harder to keep your muscles warmed up so that they’re ready for competition. But I wish them both good luck nonetheless. They‘re two great skaters and they will skate their best. Hope everything goes well for them! Go, Anna & Anna!

Omg, I haven’t seen all that much of her skating, but now that she’s posted this I feel like I already love her. I’ll binge-watch her videos tomorrow for sure.

I LOVE her landing position. She is very weak at extension EXCEPT on those landings, which are gorgeous.

She is reusing both program musics from last year, but the jump layout is different because the rules have changed.
