2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

So UR on the 3T, and appeared to have less stamina than usual. I guess it's to be expected when she missed so much training, but I'm still not convinced she really deserves a JGP spot over, say, Vasilieva. And I must say I'm not a fan of the dress. But good to have the boots sorted out.

She looked so uncharacteristicly tired at the end but not a bad skate at all and I love Take5. With her conditioning I’m not sure what to expect in the FS. Looks like those boot rumors were true and she’s missed some training time. . In addition to the tiredness I can’t recall seeing her skate in skates that looked so white.

They’ve definitely reinvented her style in the SP. I wonder if it’s going to be the case in the FS too? :think:

Now that you‘ve said it, I can‘t unsee it. The dress is basically screaming Adelina! :biggrin: Which reminds me of when people in 2014/15 were naming Nastya Gubanova and Liza Nugumanova (sometimes with Alisa Fedichkina in the mix) as the ones to own the OG in 2022. It‘s good to see Nastya again. I think it will take me some time to get used to the new programs but she didn‘t look bad at all. Tired, yes but it was still a clean performance. (Without falls at least) The FS will be interesting... Hoping she does well. :cheer:


About Nugumanova and Fedichkina... Are they still competing?
 
About Kostyuk, no. As much as I love her, she's just too far back in line to get spots. Maaaaybe next year once the 3A (or 4A) moves up, but Eteri's new trio will be coming up, so perhaps not.
Nugumanova I think is still competing. Not sure about Fedichkina.
 
I think so, but I think it's usually a bit URed. She posts it a lot on instagram and did it most of last season.

I think Kostyuk is a better skater than Tarusina: maybe not as consistent but she has good jumps, correct edges on both lutz and flip and great skating skills.

Tarusina also has good skating skills and a great presence on the ice but her jumps are a bit of a question mark: i think judges at JGP Bratislava closed both eyes on the lutzes and the 3S, and in general all her jumps are very small, satoko-like. I hope she will work on the elevation before moving to seniors.
 
I like them both. Tarusina brought the results last year, though, and Kostyuk didn't. Tarusina won Elder Age Nationals and had clean skates every single competition last season. Kostyuk has a worrying trend of not being able to skate a clean FS. I hope she can fix that soon :(

The costume needs to go as soon as possible. It makes no sense with the music.

The program was fine, the music suits her style, everything was going okay until that steps sequence: i don't get the arms flailing and jumps, it feels very cringy, Gubanova is more a delicate skater, while here they gave her more energetic steps sequence but you can tell it's not really her style.

Yes. I've seen all her programs since 13-14 and this is my least favorite. It's way over performed in my opinion. She completely loses who she is with this program, to me. She looks like Radionova more than herself. I'm not a fan of this at all. I'm not sure if I can really pinpoint what exactly I thought was so bad about this program. I just was frowning and disappointed while watching. It's as if she was trying way, way too hard and it's just not convincing and looks cheap.
