I can't believe how quickly the judges dumped Alina. Unbelievable. Not that I agree with her getting extremely high PCS, but I just didn't think she would lose her 4 point/8 point PCS buffer over Rika just like that.
^it is not surprising. They did that with Zhenya last year. She had massive PCS advantage until she didn't.
I stayed up for nearly 48 hours to watch Yulia at the 2014 WC. I’m afraid to reread those threads in the archive because I became rather loopy and probably began riffling off more nonsense than I usually do
The struggle is real!
highly recommend for anyone on a holiday (with literally nothing else to do, though)Zhenya never lost her PCS last year (in fact, it kept on going up, competition to competition), but Alina's went up last year. But to see Alina get under 36 PCS without a mistake, that is definitely a significant decrease. I don't have a problem with Rika's PCS going up, she deserved it here, but Alina's score being around 1.5 points less than what I was expect was puzzling. AFAIK, she skated the same way she did at Nebelhorn and Cup of Russia.

No, I meant the PCS difference between Zhenya and Alina were big at the beginning and then Alina's PCS skyrocketed to almost Zhenya's level at the Olys.
That surprised and frustrated me too. For all the complaints there were about Alina and Evgenia's PCS increasing over the past seasons I don't see the same kind of complaints being made about Rika's PCS which shot up with one clean skate. Where are the "artistry defenders" now when a clean 3A instead of backloading gives you the upper edge?
Well, while I completely agree that Kihira was grossly overscored for her simple and rather juniorish skating in PCS which eclipsed even "PCS Queen" Satoko (!) - they overlooked Alina's 3Lz-3Lo UR by new rules. So in the end difference between their scores would be mostly the same if they were judged fairly.

What he's saying is that skaters don't lose PCS when continuing to put out clean programs of the same difficulty level as before, which is what happened here.
even if this competition in japan they will not overscore her this much i swearWell now I would update my list.
Biggest laughing slocks in the history of female fs
1. Rika's goe here
2. Rika's pcs here
3. Costner's pcs of free on Europeans 2018

Alina's PCS at Helsinki was 35.77. At Rostelecom, it was 37.25 (but it was on home ice). She has received PCS below 36 is what I'm saying. And the difference was not that atrocious. If she got 33 or 34 suddenly, then that is atrocious. But she's still at the high end of 35s. And received the highest PCS of the field.
Idk, but Alina seemed tired, maybe because of jet lag or nerves because of Rika's results. She was great here but you know, not as sharp is she was at Rostelecom SP. Her 3lz-3lo and 2A landings were little scratchy here.
And at the time there was no Rika Kihira to challenge Alina so I get that her PCS would be high as compared to the field.
Rika's PCS shot up. But her performance was also great. And between Alina and Rika, they both deserve their scores as no one is really better than the other in the components. Now if you ask me, both are overscored in PCS. But just by a little bit. I would have put them both at 34.
