2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

For those that said that Zhenya was done after yesterday's SP, a big reality check for them. Instead of withering away like some had expected, she came back slaying with new combo 3S+3Lo. There was command in her eyes today and she even confidently gestured to the crowd to get hyped up before the step sequence. Her strongest skate of the season, judges deservingly awarded her with the highest PCS of the field and free skate scores of the seniors. The best part...seeing her thank the crowd at the KnC and being genuinely happy with her performance and scores :)

I am just happy she didn't have a a murder stare today on the ice and at K&C. She was having fun. Still lots of work to do, but she seems in a better place mentally.

To admire the performances of the 3 medalists together (in an international competition) the World Junior Championship 2019 is the place to be. The location will be Zagreb (Croatia). It's a cool destination per se :) Anyone going?

You know, I haven't considered it, but seeing as how I'm so close to Zagreb, maybe I should! :p

She doesn´t need to go to Euros to have a spot in the Worlds

Yes but the competition is stiff enough that I'm not sure it would be fair to send her if others perform well at Euros and she doesn't go. There is Russian Cup Final if she can enter still.

Wow, the juniors actually won across the board! I think the trio (Trusova/Scherbakova/Kostarnaia) are practically guaranteed to move up to seniors now. I hope for this years seniors, it will be
Euros: Zagitova/Samodurova/Stasya
1st Alternate then would be Medevedeva and then Liza will just focus on recovering.
Worlds: Liza/Medvedeva/Zagitova
1st Alternate then would be Stasya and then 2nd would be Samodurova
Winter Universiade: Medvedeva/Samodurova/Stasya
World Team Trophy: Zagitova/Medvedeva/Liza
1st Alternate: Stasya or Samodurova
This probably won’t happen, anyway.
Wtt isn't rusfeds decision, no? Don't they invite skaters?

Well Russia doesnt have so many possibilities if they want to secure 3 spots for the next year. Stasya and Sofia, even if they are clean will never outscore the japanese girls. Alina and Zhenya have the scoring potential, but we see they both struggle with their consistency and there are some rumours about their injuries as well.

Alina, Liza and Zhenya could score the highest if they are clean. Only one spot can go to someone on Stasya or Sofia level. Rus Fed has to make a tough decission.

She performed very well at GP and challengers. It is not her fault she is sick and I hope she does not feel well to compete if she is not well enough.

As mentionned previously, the Russian federation has to take into account the scoring potential. Zhenya and Alina are inconsistent, but when they are on, they can have huge scores. If Evegnia delivers clean skating, she is going to get sky-high PCS. Same thing for Alina.
Whereas skaters like Sofia and Stanislava are good, but they are never going to get scores which are going to challenge the Japanese ladies this season.

Zhenya was the 4th senior here and there‘s still Liza out there, so she‘s actually the 5th at this point. I don‘t know how rusfed could possibly justify sending her since she doesn‘t even have any results backing her up this season. I don‘t think she‘ll go to Worlds. Euros... maybe but the chances are very low. I actually hope they send her and Masha to Universiade instead and maybe she can do the World team trophy.

I don't see any sense in that statement,

And By PCS Zhenya was the 1st senior (Or either) here, And is probably 1st or 2nd internationally out of this flock

That is in March? I hope Zhenya goes but I am not sure if she is still attending Univeristy now that she moved to Canada.

Yes, in March. I'm not sure about Zhenya's student status either.

In 2017 there were three Russian entries: Liza T., Elena R., Alena L.

I'm sure one spot will go to Maria. If Zhenya is still a student, she may also get one.

Universiade is not so strict. You just need to be enrolled for studying toward a diploma or other title to a university or any other similar kind of education that is recognised in your country. Online Universities, many courses at various schools (not part of universities) are fine too.

Does anyone know if Elena is still a student?

Well, if they are hosting WJCh, I hope that "Zagreb" take their responsibility for organising a world championship more seriously than Sofia did last time round, and manages to attract more than the huddle of 30-or-so spectators that Sofia bothered (or didn't bother) to muster, for their bleak empty rink. And most of those were probably Alexandra supporters, there to witness history.

I hope Alina is not badly injured. But the expression on her face in her beginning pose said it all. She looked like she was hurting and also Eteri looked very worried. I hate to think what pressure is on her to skate threw the pain.

All season we’ve been wondering if all of 3A would get sent to junior worlds but I think now there can be no question that they all have to go. Before JGPF, Alena was the one most at risk of not going but after her win there she showed that she must go. After JGPF Anna’s place seemed at risk but now she’s won senior RusNats they can hardly hold her back, and we all know Sasha’s place on the team was never at risk (deservingly so).
