2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

So I'm hearing Alina is already a lock for the 2022 Olympic team...but in women's hockey?!?

Kidding aside, sometimes you can tell just by seeing someone with a hockey stick in their hands that they would make a damn good player, and she has that appearance. Perhaps not a surprise given her father...https://d.pr/DZr0vy. I'd love to see her on the ice playing.

Alina will be a Triple Gold Medalist in 2022 Olympics....

Good one Lesnar I coughed up the mucus ball while I was laughing so hard about Alinas Hockey gold medal in 2022.

Btw, Anastasia Guliakova said in her IG Q&A that she will compete in Slovenia and Luxembourg in the second half of the season.

Eteri is missing Alina too much :(

This is the longest stretch they have been apart this year.

Yeah... Exactly what I meant. After not being able to witness that 4F by Alina and Sasha Eteri just can’t smile anymore. Too much history she misses while being on holidays :agree:

No, I think I was joking, so don‘t kill me.

Lets wait and see how Alysa Liu will win USA nationals at 12) or Stephen Gogolev (14) will win Canadian Champ.:sarcasm:
btw So much hypocrisy and politics.... are going on now. :sarcasm: It's not even funny anymore ..

"the strongest girls" were always allowed to compete at RusNat. Even if they were 11 y.o (like Tuktamysheva at her first RusNat when she end up at 10th place. she was 11). She won a silver at her next senior RusNat. At 12.
:sarcasm:

Now you need to be 14 y.o. to compete at Senior RusNat.
But other countries are the same. At National camps there're allowing to compete regardless of age. EVen if it 11-12 years.
USA, Japan, Korea, Canada, China and so on.

so.. Let's wait and see how many yelping we will see about Liu or Gogalev who will compete at nationals... I think... we wouldn't hear a sound. And it doesn't even matter that both of them will not be able to move to seniors the next season.
While 3A will be able to do it.
but... here we are... see hundreds of ... disingenuous comments about Russian ladies every day

We could perhaps imagine that one reason Eteri Georgievna is not grinning broadly into the camera is the the residual hollowness that follows a long-drawn-out death of a parent or other beloved one. It has only been a month and the pain recedes slowly if at all.

Besides, it's clear that Eteri is a contained and centred person, not inclined to wear her emotions on her sleeve. Actually, she looks pretty contented there.

I think nationals are fine. There is no age limit needed, since it is the strongest against the strongest. However, I do think that maybe international competitions should have an age minimum of maybe 16 bc I just hate seeing so many gifted skaters burn out after one or two senior seasons. Because most coaches don't train for longetivity, and I just think that is a terrible waste of talent

Funnily enough, she said this last year: "Once when I came home I tried to play hockey with [my father]. And there were so many falls... I thought: 'Well, it’s not hard. You just skate with a stick.' But it turned out that it’s harder to skate with a stick. But this is a matter of experience."

emm. no. They're not...
Your comment are obviously lacking of cause-effect relationships.

oh boy... It would be so nice if people at least tried to think and research for a little bit before making any statement. Is it too much to ask....?

If this is about my comment, I stand by it and I actually did think about it. Just because it represents a different view point doesn't mean it's wrong. The world is not black and white. And I do stand by it, I would actually like to see more skaters into their twenties and not 21 year olds being deemed old because 5/6 competitors are under 17. It's not that I do not like these skaters, I enjoy them greatly, but I do think it would benefit everyone if people actually were pushed to train to have a long career instead of one/two absolutely dominating seasons and then basically being done because puperty caught up to them. We've seen it happen before, as much as I loke Elena she is a great example, she won so much before she went through puperty, grown 10 centimeters and developed a womanly figure, so I think it would be great to see the majority of skaters actually lasting through puperty

I do not know why it is such a controversial opinion wanting to see more skaters like Carolina Kostner skating still in her late 20s. Of course, if the person has the money for it, but I do wish to see more people having longetivity in this sport and not being it such a rare thing.
