2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Hopefully today we should have some videos of the Bolzano show: Liza Nugumanova, Sima Sakhanovich, and Zhenya Medvedeva all participated :)

It would be a shame if she quit. I think she has more unrealized potential, but it'll be hard for her to get back to where she was before this hiatus. The Vasilevsky/Lavrenchuk camp where she supposedly went after leaving Plushenko seems like a total mess though :palmf:

So silly to leave now, the only reason why they were getting some recognition was Plushenko due to his status and the money he put on the academy.

Yeah, it seems like it was a bad call for everyone involved except maybe Plushenko himself. Samoilov and Zotov, who left with Mikhailova, struggled pretty badly at nationals this year, which is especially disappointing considering that Samoilov was 6th(?) last year I think. Plushenko may not be very present, but at least his skaters have his reputation behind them.

I think the show will air only tomorrow. Maybe we‘ll get some fan videos today already, though. Or does anyone know a way to watch it live?

What are predictions for Europeans? Do we have possibility of a Russian sweep of podium?

If Stanislava skates clean, I think the podium would be Alina-Sofia-Stanislava. If not - possibly Alina-Sofia-Loena or even Alina-Sofia-Viveca. But a clean Stasya should medal.

Yes! A very high chance actually! The biggest challengers for the podium that aren’t Russian are Loena Hendrickx and Alexia Paganini, and Alina, Stasya and Sonya should be able to beat them even at not their best. Loena could actually squeeze Stasya off the podium if Stasya isn’t clean, but if they all perform near their best the results should make way for an all russian podium.

It depends on the panel really.

There will be surprises for sure because other European girls are getting better, but among the non-russians Loena Hendrikx is the only one that can really challenge the podium if everyone skates relatively clean because she has close PB. (higher than Stasya actually)

Viveca Lindfors, Alexia Paganini are great but so inconsistent.

I think it will be Alina-Sonya-Stasya because it's possible Stasya will make at least one mistake. But what if Alina has another one of those moments and Stasya or Sonya wins Europeans? it would be shocking and amazing.

Not really. Challengers are pretty misleading for PCS.

Sonya's PCs on GP:
SA: 28.59 + 62.22
Rostelecom: 30.40 + 63.54
GPF: 31.12 + 63.27

Stasya's PCs on GP:
Helsinki: 30.89 + 61.44
France: 31.11 + 63.43

I would say both have PCs on same level, but if back to back, judges will imho favour a clean Stasya.

why? they are age eligible.

Anastasiia is not age eligible (she was born on 29 December 2003, even Alessia Tornaghi born on 3 July 2003 is not eligible). Ekaterina hasn't got the Clearance Certificate yet (on top of not having the minimum TES achieved in an international competition).

Anastasia Gozhva will represent Ukraine and Elżbieta Gabryszak will represent Poland.

Arkhipova is only just recently 15, and Kurakova can't compete internationally for Poland until June of this year because of the change in country of representation.
