What little I've seen of Yulia's Nutcracker performances (which I've been having to hunt on Instagram for) its amazing that she's maintained her flexibility and been able to keep her crazy flexible spins considering she's been out of competition for 2 years.

is she plannig for a comeback? I am here for it

Thanks, is this list more recent than the one at RusFed? Shcherbakova's National Championships gave her an immediate promotion, cool.

These rankings mean little to us, but for the skaters themselves are important for their stipends and future benefits. Plus they reflect on the trainers and rinks that helped/allowed them to attain this level.

How come Trusova is only CMS when both Shcherbakova and Kostornaya are Master of Sports? She won Junior Worlds last year. And she medaled at senior Nationals this year. Or am I missing something here?

This page https://www.fsrussia.ru/sorevnovaniya/4167-pervenstvo-rossii-sredi-yuniorov-2019.html mentions KMC, also Candidate Master of Sports as requirement to compete in 2019 Junior National Championships.
Now, is this the only rank invited, the minimum or the maximum rank? The short answer will decide if any of the 2004 born medalists in (senior) Russian National Championships is required to compete.
Otherwise one has to peruse all the official RusFed rules and regulations, or just wait for the start lists to be announced.

Indeed, RusFed's calendar for 2019 is empty at the moment, but as soon as the administration returns from New Year holidays, there will be further announcements.

I am not sure really. It is fairly complicated, and sometimes may take time and blabla whatever dunno.
Maybe they require some previous ranks (and quite a few of them) to be sequentially achieved.

Its pretty complicated to figure out because the norms and ages vary from sport to sport.

pretty sure all the skaters who want to compete at junior worlds this year, and also skate on junior level next season (junior team, JGP spots) will participate at junior nationals, since all those things are based on performance at junior nationals.

:confused2: i could watch alina over and over again but zhenya's programs this season, even the new sp, don't have that much replay value for me. i don't think skating skills really have anything to do with what your preferences are. and imo there are several skaters in the world who have better ss than zhenya.

As weird as some of Eteri's choices were, at least they were always interesting. Med's programs are just so lukewarm and the commitment to the choreography isn't there. It's somewhat exhibitiony and nothing is quite as effortless as it used to be. I commend her efforts in their Russian Nats FS though - it's like the SP was finally a wake up call and she brought more vigour and intensity. But the problem is the programs. TCC usually comes up with such great vehicles so I was kinda let down when I was expecting a more artistic breakthrough in Med's skating. If the jumps aren't what they used to be, at least show artistic progression. Still love Med, but this season seems like such a step back for her unfortunately, IMO, even though I'm rooting for her to get her groove back eventually.

Alina's programs I have to disagree. With the 7 jump backloading there was that impressiveness but without it I really expected her programs to improve to make up for it. But the packaging is not quite right and I really dislike the warhorsing (she doesn't bring anything fresh to POTO or Carmen). I do like how she's maintained her jumps and is still super competitive but it's interesting to see how she's handling pressure being the one chased this season. Worlds for her will be super interesting to see how she holds up.

My take on this is that she'll manage in dealing with the psychological pressure, she never struck me as fragile in this aspect.
Physical fitness is another thing, she did return from Vancouver with a sprained ankle, having tripped over a television cable or something.
Alina's knees were taped at Nationals with almost invisible Kinesiotape to provide some relief because of Osgood-Schlatter's induced pain
Her physical condition is still lean and mean, and there is still two months of preparation time. She probably is glad the 2013/14/15 girls aren't eligible yet, though.

She is a survivor, she is a fighter and I wish for her to do well in Europeans and Worlds.

tbh alina is my favourite skater but i do think that her programs last season were superior (i still rewatch this seasons programs a lot tho). the main issue for me is that the music is boring and does absolutely nothing to highlight the choreo. i actually like poto more than carmen (even with those cuts :drama:) since the choreo and music match up really beautifully, there are a lot of breathtaking moments in poto. there's a very nice buildup in the music to all the jumps and the step sequence is so dreamy and fits the music perfectly. i don't even mind the cuts any more since each part of the program is so nicely done.

but there's so much untapped potential for carmen, it builds up really nicely for a big finish and then it just goes nowhere. the best comparison i have would be kaori's fs where a relatively simple choreo sequence seems super epic because of the music whereas alinas choreo sequence is just .... there. the step sequence also seems like it should be somewhere in the middle of the program, it's very nice, but the music doesn't have any sort of finality. the music doesn't die down or build up during the sequence, it just abruptly ends which is super jarring for me and feels unfinished. even though i don't like tosca as a whole for zhenya, the music at the end of the program is fantastic.

The official list of Russian skaters is very outdated:

But even there Tuktamisheva is marked as HMS.

Oh yeah, checking now, she is
(kind of pain in the butt because no single source so i was checking them one by one)

Just leaving this here :) Sofia Samodurova 3Lz-3Lo https://www.instagram.com/p/BsU_4WyhsnA/

It seems like yesterday when smol Sofia wasn't even able to jump a 3Lz (she used to have an obvious flutz if someone does not know ^^) and now she even tries this. Praise Team Mishin!

(Before someone mentions it: Yes, I know this is no textbook 3Lz-3Lo and should get tech calls. And I also know her 3Lz in her FS is telegraphed to show only a small correct edge - but it's a great sucess and AMAZING progress! )
