2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Im so happy that Tarakanova finaly skated a clean short and got a great score! (I still think she i held back in PCS compared to 3A especially SS though)

I really want her to make the JW team but at the same time I dont want any of 3A to miss it! Russian junior nationals is to hard to have to choose between all your favorites! However the outcome after tomorrow Ill be sad for one of these four but (hopefully) happy for the three that gets to go!

Trusova is incredible. 1 triple miss all season. She should be able to go to junior worlds no matter what she does tomorrow

I could only watch it on my smartphone using the seven eleven WiFi and missed a lot of moments. But I found a new beautiful Lutz jumper with black costume in the last group. I don't remember her name, need to find some video on the Internet.

She is about 10 points behind Alena. That‘s one quad.

I never liked such simplification. It's not one quad. It's one quad minus Alena's triple cost with good GOE i.e. +4/+5 points of difference at best. With two typical Trusova's quads (with +1/+2 average GOE) minus two typical Alena's triples with high GOEs she would get +8/+10 points back - and she still will be behind her considering Alena's higher PCS and GOEs on all her elements. More realistic scenario though is that she will fall on atleast one quad (with UR). So even 3rd place she can't take for granted.
True "monster" that Eteri raised is not Sasha or Anna. It's Alena. She is getting 9s in PCS even at junior level. She is getting +4/+5 GOEs for everything. She is short, has high jumps, fast rotation and unlikely to have growth spurt anymore. She is stable and consistent beyond belief. She has one of the best skating skills among all skaters (both junior and senior). And she is training with Eteri and has great reputation boost. What do you think will happen when she moves up to seniors? Noone will be able to beat her - even those with quads and 3As would lose to her on average since these jumps can't be consistent enough. Karolina, Satoko, Medvedeva? All of them would pale in comparison. She will become next unbeatable PCS queen but without their flaws. Difficult jumps? She just don't need them :)

The injury has been speculated by the simple fact that Trusova can not fail the jump that has dominated in all his life
Wrong. While Sasha without doubt is the best jumper of 3Lz+3Lo combination - she is never had 100% success rate with it. All dedicated Trusova fans who watched all her trainings videos would know that there were quite a bit of issues with this combo even for her. Therefore it was destined to happen sooner or later in her SP. I think this combo is not worth the risk to put it in SP for mere half a point of difference - for Anna's SP they already realized it.

I frankly don’t know where all the injury rumours are coming from. She was training quads in practice yesterday! If she did that with an injury, it would be more than insane. She‘s human, had a bad day and that‘s it. But she‘s a fighter and will come back strongly tomorrow.
They came from someone mentioned it at stream's chat. Supposedly the guy was one of skaters or spectators in the rink in Perm who probably overhear something from people around Sasha/Eteri. They say about minor injury (something like callus, most likely). Also Sasha yet again is wearing new boots (they were brown before and now they are white). Considering all of the above she may or may not be on podium tomorrow. Honestly I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised to see either result.
they won‘t make her miss this after winning two silver medals at JGPF and Senior Nationals
Will they? RusFed shouldn't be worried about JWC quotas at all - in any case they will send strong enough team to secure it. And I can't remember any single case when JrNats results were overruled by RusFed/couching council decision (they reserved that right only for seniors RusNat). Also Sasha already has season's best to guarantee her GP events next season. Also they just love to give spots to skaters from influential couch camps - the more couches - the better. So, considering CSKA influence - I am almost expecting to see Vasilieva/Tarusina scores inflation tomorrow :rolleye:

I agree with everything here. I think Trusova will have to end top 3 tomorrow to get to JW. And that might prove to be difficult if three out of the six: Kostornaia/Shcherbakova/Tarakanova/Sinitsyna/Tarusina/Vasilieva skates clean. The RusFed has again and again showed that they are more likely to follow the results than past merits. I'm thinking Tarakanova or consistent Tarusina has a great chance here to get to JW.

Are there any detailed score sheats available from the ladies short?? I was wondering what Dmitrieva did for getting such a low score...

Wow, so now there's a possibility that Trusova might not even make the WJC team?? And to think that there was even an analogy posted here after JGP Amber Cup claiming that Trusova is to FS as Einstein is to Physics :scratch2:. Rather than causing skaters to tremble and retire because of perceived superior technical content, as some claimed earlier in the season, Trusova appears to be yet another skater that has been overhyped. Her quads (and 3Lz+3Lo, when landed cleanly) may be impressive but in terms of skating skills and musicality (she seemed be skating through the music even more so today), there's a lot to be desired. With that said, I do hope she can podium tomorrow and earn the chance to defend her title next month.

Trusova? Over-hyped?

She's one of two girls to be doing quads. This is her first miss on a triple all season. Her spins and footwork have gotten noticeably better than last season.

She deserves every inch of the praise and attention that she's gotten

...and it's a testament to the strength of Russian junior ladies when Sasha's score - which isn't at all bad for a junior lady - puts her only in the second warm-up for the free skate tomorrow

She fell on both the 3Lz and the 3F

I found, it was Anastasiia KOSTYUK. I rewinded the video before the last group. Her lutz is nice like Yuzuru, Alina, Anna isn't it?
I also liked puppet coreography of Anna FROLOVA. bit like Sakamoto last year, Anna does much better!

Alena Kostornaia also did another interview here where she said she wishes she can skate in seniors already (and hopes this is her last year in juniors):

And who could blame her honestly? With the performances she had and senior PCS boost she could've been second in the GPF even.

I was watching and rewatching Sinitsina's SP and I couldn't understand how had I missed her earlier in the season. Seems lit was because I didn't find her impressive enough and she didn't make the GPF and I don't really watch a lot of skaters other than the 3A and Tarakanova in local competitions. But as of right now I think that was my favourite performance yesterday.

Kostornaya is already giving routine answers in her interviews ...
Most athletes quickly learn to mistrust and even hate the press, always asking the same dumb questions, often mangling the answers into some completely different story afterwards ...
But they also know it is one of their duties, so the athletes try to make the best out of it and escape as quickly as possible.
