2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

We know Russia is great in ladies singles but in ithe other three disciplines.are they just bad or just because the Russian ladies are so good they make the other three Russian disciplines look very mediocre? That is the question.
Dances were totally lost after the Twizzle revolution.
Men curently are not good enough as being absolutely unstable.
Pairs are mediocre vs other top five or six.

You do not have to be a bed-ridden invalid to be laid off skating for a while. Skating places rather more strain on your body than eating breakfast, footling around, and so on.

Yes, but she can travel? She has some medical issues, right?

That's hardly surprising. A lot of injuries that would make it impossible to skate at a competitive level, wouldn't make normal walking around particularly difficult.

If Zhenya and Alina had more help in the other three disciplines Russia would have won the gold the last Olympics in the team event and they need more help for the next Winter Olympic Games whoever the Russian ladies are. I'm hoping for a couple fine Russian pairs teams by then. Twizzle or not they should be able to put together a good dance team or two as well since they dominated that discipline for decades. I have little hope for the Russian men but you have to hope they get good enough where they don't kill the chances of Russia in the team event in Beijing.

ANybody knows why Trusova did 3Lz-3Toe instead of Lz-Loop in her short?

No, I was wondering as well. Someone reported she's had trouble with the 3Lz-3Lo in practices and only jumped 3Lz-3T in the warm-up... Maybe it's like with Anna - it's become too inconsistent. But that would surprise me since she's only missed it once this season.

No. She isn't on crutches or hospitalized with her foot in a sling so therefore she must be lying about the injury. #logic

I don’t think that’s what the poster meant at all. It’s more concern that the injury could have been broken bones or torn ligaments that may impact the ability to perform in the future. But being able tot walk around suggests that she’s likely only sidelined for a couple weeks to heal and not several months.

It looks like there’s a splint on her finger, which she injured during JGP season. Maybe it’s been reaggravated by training/jumping and the doctors advise her to fully let it heal. So the injury could be nothing related areas you’d normally associate with skating injuries.

Guys, you have no idea how relieved I am that they had her do 3Lz-3T instead of a loop combo. You have no idea how much she was struggling with it this morning. Yesterday's and today's practices were diametrically different. For some reason she barely did any jumps before it was her turn to skate the runthrough which was at the very end. During that she landed it but had to put her free leg down fast. After that they had her do it over and over again and it never happened. She popped the lutz, she doubled the lutz, she fell once before the runthrough and it just wouldn't happen. Sergey and Daniil got quite annoyed. I guess in the end it wasn't happening due to lack of focus, but still. She went for it like 5+ times. None successful. This was the right decision.

Oh dear... I wonder what happened. Maybe it was just one of those days. Then it definitely was the best decision to just do a 3Lz-3T. She's right behind Anna and the FS will decide everything. Had she fallen on the combo, she would have lost way more points. Wouldn't have been worth it. Of course, the SP is more dramatic with a 3Lz-3Lo but it's better to play it safe sometimes. I'm sure Sasha herself wasn't too happy with that but good on the coaches part for stepping in.

She was last in the group and barely jumped in all that time before her run-through? Doesn’t sound like her at all, I hope she isn’t sick or injured or something...hopefully she was just tired?

Yep. I guess we'll really see tomorrow morning in the practices. Yesterday was soooo good, it was out of my mind! I was even saying that her quad success rate is like 75%.

Alexandra looses a lot in the area of “rhythm in the jump” with the 3lz -3t. Reasonable though since this is not what she was training for.
