2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

She was last in the group and barely jumped in all that time before her run-through? Doesn’t sound like her at all, I hope she isn’t sick or injured or something...hopefully she was just tired?

Sometimes there are days where nothing will work out. Even Sasha has them. She was totally fine yesterday. She skated a clean SP today. Yes, it may be that she struggled before it and had to simplify it but still... tomorrow will be a better day.

Guys, you have no idea how relieved I am that they had her do 3Lz-3T instead of a loop combo. You have no idea how much she was struggling with it this morning. Yesterday's and today's practices were diametrically different. For some reason she barely did any jumps before it was her turn to skate the runthrough which was at the very end. During that she landed it but had to put her free leg down fast. After that they had her do it over and over again and it never happened. She popped the lutz, she doubled the lutz, she fell once before the runthrough and it just wouldn't happen. Sergey and Daniil got quite annoyed. I guess in the end it wasn't happening due to lack of focus, but still. She went for it like 5+ times. None successful. This was the right decision.

I just hope she is as realistic with her QUADZ tomorrow and does not push it. Did she ever land three quads in a program? Honestly, her 4Lz makes me very anxious because when she does not nail it.... she does not just fall... she POGOS. So hopefully she will go for clean program that will be fabulous to rewatch.

I think she wants to make history as spectacularly as she did last year... Her 4T is definitely more consistent than the lutz. I think she'll go for all three quads regardless, she's been doing them in her run-through. I just hope she doesn't have any nasty falls.

I think (and hope) you’re right. I guess it’s just weird to think of Sasha having an off day because she seems indestructible.

(There has to be a better word than ‘indestructible’. I stayed up to watch the livestream and now I can’t think of the right word because my brain is fried.)

Edit: Infallible. I meant infallible. I’m sorry, I’m too tired to function.

Did you take any videos, or know of anyone else who did?

Oh, yes, I definitely agree. I didn't believe at first that Sasha would really take out the 3Lz-3Lo from her SP since it seemed to unlike her. But in the end, we always have to remember that she's still human.

Don't worry, I get what you mean. Watching skating non-stop after staying up late stops the brain from functioning at 100%. I think every skating fan has experienced this.

AFAIR Russia never succeeded in Team events except Sochi.
Ladies and pairs failed to compensate overall mediocracy.

Silver from Peyogchang is not considered success? As well as silver from 2017 and 2015 team events? Also, "overall mediocracy" would be only two of four disciplines if ladies and pair are "compensating". And that's normal after all, as e. g. Japan (as well as Korea) has no strong pair or ice dancers so they have to "compensate" it in men and ladies and so on.

I hope everyone realized what kind of balls (sorry for my expression) needed to perform two 3Lz-3Lo at olympics in second half.

What's "POGOS"?

What's "POGOS"?

Anna Pogorilaya always had the worst falls. Pogo is what some fans call her. Her falls looked painful and Sasha has had some very scary falls on her quads as well this season. That's where the comparison is coming from.

It's good that her coaches did not push. I'd hate to see her injure herself.

I like her the best out of Russian young'uns.

It looks like there’s a splint on her finger, which she injured during JGP season. Maybe it’s been reaggravated by training/jumping and the doctors advise her to fully let it heal. So the injury could be nothing related areas you’d normally associate with skating injuries.
There is no splint on her finger at all. It is something else that is around her hand.

No, sorry. I was very cold and I wanted to enjoy it with my own eyes instead of through a screen. Gonna do the same tomorrow, but I can perhaps ask my boyfriend to film for me. The same person that did the livestream yesterday did it today too, so maybe him but I have no idea who he is.

teamtrusova_official has the live stream of the practice, I think.
