2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

No, unless that Youtube channel is yours.

I apologize if you felt you were being attacked over your posting. I share your anger over these kind of actions by no doubt adults bearing some grudge against a figure skater that is representing her nation as best as she can and using innocent footage stolen from children for the attack.

No, it's not.

OK, If I could buy you a beer, I would :-)

Again this proves that these young skaters should be very careful with their social media, as like with Shabotova being lured into accusing another rink, it seems these innocent live streams of children are being used as weapons in a vile war fought between figure skating factions.
If the girls themselves find out their live streams are being abused this way, what should they do?
There sure must be some security official in FFKM able to deal with these channels? But then again, this is YouTube, more concerned over copyright lawsuits than the integrity and safety of children.
I hardly ever venture in the cesspool that is Russian live streaming sites, but I think RosKomNadzor is equally lax when children and minors are involved.

Alena Kostornaia stopped doing livestreams because they were reposted without her consent.

She is smart. First and foremost it is the parents duty to educate their kids, but their schools and clubs also have a role here.

Even unfollowing can start a chain of speculation here and elsewhere, like on another site. :ohwell:

Don't you think that some FS-children can perfectly understand that a video stream can be recorded? And maybe even interested in it (the growth of popularity, fame)

P.S. Moreover, I'm not at all sure that an adult made the video recording (I do not deny this option, but I am not sure either). 13-year-old children are not babies, they are well aware of what popularity is. Their childhood is expressed in the fact that they do not understand what forces they sometimes encounter.

I do, and here lies the parents responsibility, along with school teachers and perhaps telecom providers too. The internet is vast, endless, timeless, and some images or videos that have been stolen and abused can haunt people for life, drive them into suicide etc.

To me, this channel and a couple of likewise others show that there is a cyber war going on between skating factions. And any moment one of these skaters can meet some raving lunatic for real, even these young skaters, and get physically attacked for real, splashed with acid because they are young and beautiful. Their rinks are in the telephone directory, the girls ride buses, walk in public in their Russia jackets and hats, they are easy to find.

But all of this nasty business is better kept to a different thread.

I think that if skaters want to interact with fans, it's better to film YouTube videos (if their parents are OK with that), as you can actually edit something out of a YouTube video after saying something thoughtless before you post it.

When you're doing an IG livestream, everybody can send you a public message, you can be provoked, etc. If it's recorded, you have no control over it.

And even if these skaters don't mind their livestreams being recorded, I'm not sure whether they truly comprehend that something they say while goofing around with their friends could affect their careers. I'm sure everybody said something stupid at 13 but in most cases it's not on YouTube for all to see years later.

Well, for me at least. Kanysheva was somewhat not very nice about Zagitova in a video back in the summer of 2018, which created quite a commotion in russian media and forums. For me, makes no sense to accept someone who makes fun of one of the top skaters in the team, which could lead to conflicts and discomfort among the skaters who already train there.

What did she say?

I liked this part where Goncharenko showed her skepticism about bronze by very refined way:

"The American girl is also gifted and athletic, but I would like to see Sinitsina among the winners. On the other hand, she allowed the little mistakes. Ksyusha and her trainer both perfectly understood that she is not Kostornaya, and she had to be absolutely flawless so that no one could find the slightest loophole. In this competition, the eye of the needle seemed, where the camel immediately climbed."

yeah, we used to measure and compare PCS of lady field against Carolina Kostner's PCS, and nowadays we measure PCS in Kostronayas: either "much closer to Kostornaya's PCS skills" or "completely incomparable to Kostornaya". And somewhere in-between. I see the trend! :)

ETA: love the camel and the eye of the needle reference. Not a lot of people would get this one. :P

I know it’ll probably not happen but I would love to see Adelina on the scene again.

competitons are unlikely to happen for Adelina, but shows - yes, she still does them a lot. I miss her a bit. Shame she got flooded with such hate and online bullying. No wonder she lost her appetite for competing ever again.

Adelina's come back into competing is as likely as Plyushchenko competing at Bejing-2022. ...Which is not completely impossible, especially knowing Plyushchenko, I gotta say! Some would even humorously evaluate chances of that are pretty high to happen. If there even would be a hint of that in the press - quick, someone please get the microphone to Yags. ASAP. :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A712tvluaYI ("Figure skater mocks Alina Zagitova")

Girlfriend of Kanysheva says how difficult it is to answer journalists' questions.
K: "Especially stupid questions that are not clearly understood what to answer"
G:"Exactly. What do you like .... I do not know ... in training? Well, try, answer this question! Answer smoothly and not stammer like Zagitova. Mmm... well.. uh... here... mmm... tomorrow, I.... probably... can be, possible...I don't want to talk!"
Kanysheva laughs and says that she is sure that Alina refused to talk about Medvedeva (during the transfer in May) only because she cannot speak well. Her friend unexpectedly disagreed and said that she was confident that Zagitova’s refusal was due to moral reasons.

Unpleasant video, tbh. I think Alina may experience some psychological stress, especially considering that she is an introvert. But on the other hand, the video is just a 13-year-old teenager.

Sad. Kids can be cruel. I did not know this rubbish took place. Why should Alina comment on Zhenya leaving her and EG? EG probably told Alina to say nothing. Eteri must want Alena badly. Maybe she wants a tall blonde.

I have no desire to watch a video about one teen girl putting down another teen girl. I don't blame Kanysheva- she is young, and young people often don't know what they are saying, or how to say it. I will say that Alina should have no shame in how she talks or responds to questions. I love that she is honest, genuine and unfiltered, and maybe not as savvy as some of her peers, who I suspect are saying what they know will appeal to the public. She is just a teenager, and an athlete who is mostly focused on physical training. I don't expect her to sound like a diplomat, and neither should anyone else. Most young people I know say "umm," "like" and tend to stammer when nervous. It doesn't make me respect them less. Personally, I dislike it when young people sound too sophisticated and worldly. It seems very "put on" and superficial to me. But that is just me, and maybe I am old-fashioned. Alina has plenty of time to grow up and be well-spoken. I will also say that if they were male figure skaters, I doubt any of this would be an issue.

Do we have any proof Alena Kanysheva is now training with Eteri? I’ve only seen rumors so I'm not 100% believing Eteri took her until I see something other than rumors.

I’d be surprised if she takes any more tall skaters after tsurskaya

Thanks for pointing this out. I was not aware of it, so I will seek it out and mull over it, perhaps. It is horrible when there is nastiness expressed towards Alina from all quarters and we know that Alina has been and remains the target of much criticism from the media and from certain envious adults and near-adults. (But it is also clear that they represent a tiny, though very vocal, minority of voices, far outweighed by the adoration Alina inspires.)

But we need caution imputing the same levels of conscious ill-intent from children on the cusp of and in their early teens, even though we know that children of all ages can be thoughtlessly cruel (towards parents, siblings, friends, rivals, strangers...) We also know the mind matures far later than the body, only starts to catch up with the body age in the late teens and through the twenties (in some people never). And furthermore, these girls and boys are under very peculiar pressures as (effectively) professional athletes. Some respond to these pressures in remarkably mature ways, others, of course, not so much. As adults ourselves, we have to decide when it is right to megaphone and prolong things and and when to downplay and let the lapses fade away. If there is a genuine problem with any particular skater, it will surely keep resurfacing.

I would say, however, however much we are aware of something like this doing the rounds in the social and actual media, we can be certain that Eteri and the management at Khrystalnyi are that much better informed than we are, so I'm quite sure they know what they are doing.

[Edit: I have viewed the offending video provided by Orlov, and I agree with others here, it just seems like the idle, rather gormless chitchat to be expected from children of that age, particularly those under the glare of spotlight and the competitive pressures that they are, blown out of all proportion, similar to another recent incident.]
