2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

What are the age limits for both younger ages and elder age?
And so this means that some skaters can compete at younger, elder, and junior nationals in the same season?

these names are kind of messy. Elder -most of us would think grandmother - not even Radinova or Liza lol and we are talking youngings. lol.

Yes, like some skaters can compete in Russia at Senior, Junior and Elder Age nationals. Usually the better ones just don't do also the last competition, they don't need it.

The limits overlapping each other. The oldest skaters at the Younger Age are born in 2006, like the youngest eligible at the Elder Age, and this season had the chance to be at their first Junior nationals.

So if elder age and junior nationals have the same age to go (2006), then why have both, does anyone know? Is it so more skaters can have the chance to go to a nationals?

And correct me if I’m wrong on this... you qualify to junior nats though the Russian cup competitions or if you got a JGP? And to qualify to elder/younger age there is one competition for each called a qualifier for each region? Idk if region is the right word, I’ve just inferred from above that there is a competition in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, are there any others?

I don't know why they both exist, because they could just combine the segments, but I suppose it might give RusFed more performances from hopeful juniors next season to choose who gets the JGP.

Qualification for junior nats is both by JGP and by Russian cup. This year, seven ladies got in because they had JGP spots (Trusova, Shcherbakova, Kostornaia, Tarakanova, Kanysheva, Sinitsyna, Vasilieva), and the rest of the 11 qualified because of results on the Russian Cup qualification. For example, Daria Usacheva was 2nd at the 1st Stage and 1st at the 2nd Stage, and qualified first to Russian Junior Nationals. Russian Cup stages also qualify a skater to the Russian Cup Final. And for younger/elder age qualification is by region, which is kind of odd, considering the majority of the talented novice Russians are all from Moscow. There are other regions, like Ural and Volga and the Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts. But like I said, most of the talented novices are centered in Moscow.

Okay this is pretty much what I though, thanks for clarifying! The whole system is kind of wierd to me, like why have russian cup qualify skaters to junior nats if its whole purpose is to qualify skaters to the cup final? Too many competitions and too many amazing skaters... I'm not complaining though!!

I think it's normal to have a regionals to nationals competition, many federations do that for their main nationals. The name of the competition is a bit weird though

The junior nats selection of Russia is different and only the best goes there in the end, but like that some districts ends to not be represented at all.

More than a nats, the Elder Age it's like a chance to shine at the end of the season, to those which the talent is yet to be acknowledge. Which is why this competition can affect the JGP team of the next season.

I saw this on Twitter about how Kamila's Lutz edge has changed from outside to flat. The user also posted other shots of it from different angles but it looks to be flat. I really hope Eteri works on this because Kamila is so promising!

Moderate word for this tweet would be "misleading". Comparing just two pictures in very low quality from completely different angles in just one moment is not anything that would justify anybody to make such conclusions.

If we would speak particularly about Kamila's yesterday's skate, she jumped two lutzes, first in 1:01 in combo with 2T, second in 2:05 in combo with 3T. First one is shot in bad angle but the second, well, if anybody calls it wrong/flat edge, than...

Well then I’m relieved because I was really worried and I really enjoy Kamila’s skating!

Looks like Kamilla is the next big name in the junior circle. And as she is from Eteri's camp those whose name we don't say will surely play their usual game with videos, photos with arrows and angles. They have already started.

Last three world titles, and probably the current one, has been won by a lot shallower edges than Valieva's, so I think she is in good track

Just watched Kamila’s SP. The music sounded familiar until I realized that it was the music the ShibSibs skated to for their 2016-17 FD.

This minimalist music is the devil to pull off, keeping the audiences interest throughout. As I recall the Shibutani's season, they began with nothing more than the Arvo Part piece, but little by little felt the need to bolster it with more robust material. I think they added some strings to the first part (and maybe advanced the tempo a little?) and segued into something else at the end.

Kamilla's SP music has Spiegel im Spiegel only for the frist minute and a half. Spellbinding beginning (plus great costume).

The best version of this music (in my opinon) is the piano with solo cello.
