2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

And thanks to YouTube we are able to watch live even. Mainstream or even regional TV will never broadcast these kinds of children's sports events.

Figure skating is probably the most popular winter sport amongst city children, girls mostly though.
One would assume the outside snow events like downhill, slalom, biathlon, bobsleigh etc are more competed in mountainous regions with proper infrastructure.
Russia has always been great in biathlon due to the military, but never been that dominant in the slope ski sports.

Gracious! Another terrific SP today by Veronika Zhilina from Team Tutberidze.

Take a look at her spins (bonuses on both), not to mention her jumps.

After two segments, she is now over 20 points ahead of the second-placed Sasha Chatkina.

To me, there seems to be something of the killer instinct about Veronika. I can imagine her skating pairs with Sergey Dudakov and tossing him in the air like spindrift on the wind, or dancing with Daniil and outtwizzling him.

It has been puzzling me a bit, this kimono thing, and Olga feeling constrained to issue an apology. Rather than a faux pas, as is being interpreted, could it not have been deliberate, part of the choreography, or the narrative? Rather like the lion and the bees...out of the strong came forth sweetness... only in Anna's case, a reverse metamorphosis, out of the gentle geisha came forth the warrior-samurai.

After all, Eteri's skaters are hardly ignorant of Japan and Japanese etiquette, and several have have plenty of first-hand kimono experience.

Alina in Kyoto, perfectly clad, l-o-r
Anna herself, impeccably l-o-r, Shin-Yokohama
The three ladies, all correctly l-o-r.

It is not something you wouldn't notice and perhaps remark on when donning a kimono!

Afaik the costumes were designed and sewn in a hurry (all 3 girls got new galas), and she just did it at random.
Once people started complaining, Olga simply said "well, i'm sorry, we will work on that", which makes sense - since its a minor detail, it probably not a big deal to change it to leave the audience happy.

Sound impressive. Who is she? Another quadster!?!

Not until now, but it isn't surprising that the Eteri effect is making its force felt in others schools, other regions, other countries. Not just in quads, but in many areas of competitive fs. Truly, Eteri is a revolutionary, whom the whole skating world will slowly but surely come around to recognise and acknowledge. Ok, there are still many Rip van Winkles, Ostriches and Doubting Thomases, but the Genie is well-and-truly out of the lamp.

(Pardon the hodgepodge of mixed images.)

True enough, it would be less complicated just to change it over, even if my musings are correct. That's only a vague thought of mine, since it is unlikely that the ballet-narrative idea itself, aot the costumes, was thrown together in a hurry.

The last rotation at 2:20 - completely in the center circle for the puck hardly 30 cm in diameter. Perfect.

Funny. Somebody posted a comment under that video on TeamTutberidze VK fan page (https://vk.com/eteritutberidze), that he saw Alyona Kanysheva in the video. Few minutes later his comment was deleted :)
Why do they make such a secret that Kanysheva is now in their group? So was that video a info leakage or something special to confirm the rumors?

Perhaps Kanysheva is still on probation and will only officially be transferred to a different rink once officially accepted? With any listed skater being transferred comes a change in FFKKR funding and probably lots of administration as well.

We will all know for certain once the transfer has been officially confirmed but even then Alyona's motivation might remain private to the parties involved.

He is very good, but it is a pleasant change to see Alexey not being outshone by his pupils

No, you not right. Post in VK contains two videos: with Alina, Moris and Alexey, and this video only with Alexey. Don't forget, this VK-public about:

"Танцевально-спортивная студия для спортсменов, любителей и профессионалов танца, под руководством хореографа Железнякова Алексея Валентиновича."

"Dance and sports studio for athletes, amateurs and dance professionals, led by choreographer Zheleznyakov Alexei Valentinovich."

Of course, in this public there may be a video only of Alexey himself, for example, as illustrative material.

Coach change is officially possible only in May. As far as I understand, it can occur at another time, but it is not advertised.

So when FFKKR publishes the ranking and distribution of skaters for 2019/2020 season, any skater is fixed to the listed rink for the whole coming season?

On this page Alexey Zheleznyakov himself has confirmed in answer that was Alyona Kanysheva:
https://vk.com/public170686412?w=wall-170686412_223

Thus, rumors were right.

Yes, he did. In fact, both sides are now looking at each other. The final decision has not yet been made. Therefore, no one in the group and Alёna herself, when asked, deny nothing and all answers are like "I cannot say now" or "the time will come, and all will know". As I remember in last summer Yacmina Kadyrova was training in Novogorsk with team Tutberidze but didn't stay and now is in St.Petersburg

PS And vk-group "Team Tutberidze" doesn't stop delete all posts about Kanysheva :laugh2:

Interesting fact. Previous coach of Kanysheva, i.e. before Panova was Oksana Bulycheva - first coach of Anna Shcherbakova. That's it, Alёna are back to Sambo-70.
