2018-19 U.S. Ladies' figure skating

I liked Bradie’s program. The only major flaw in choreography, imo, was those horrible ugly illusion features in the final spin. Major UGH! She looks like she is trying to tap her boot with her hand, and it looks very labored. Everyone go watch her final spin and see what I mean.

I really don't like her use of her arms in the LP. She creates awkward looking poses throughout the program and it is a bit distracting. I think she'll get good feedback to take home and make improvements on. However, she will unquestionably be the leader of the US ladies field for the foreseeable future with Ashley out, Karen hurt, and Gracie just coming back.

She won’t just be the leader, she’ll be the only one. US ladies are in such a poor state. Look at who’s being sent to International competitions. There are no other options.😕

Congrats Bradie! Great improvement! Like the SP more as interesting and modern!

I think she will be the only one holding the US women internationally. Very sad about the the US women these days.

I have to say that although Bradie is looking great, the young ones like Alysa Liu and Ting Cui may still give her a run for her money in keeping her national title.

Like many, I was impressed by Bradie's improvement from last year. Less stiff and awkward; jumps look bigger and cleaner; very interesting choreo in the SP in particular. I admire her confidence and attack.

I just wish her coaches would get outside help with her packaging. The SP dress was conventional, drab and washed her out. For such an edgy program, couldn't her dress have communicated a similar aesthetic? And the LP dress lacked the sophistication and polish one would expect to see on an elite skater. That illusion buttoned mock turtleneck was unfortunate. She's a very pretty girl but her hair and makeup seem drab and unsophisticated. I'd like to see more contrast in her hair, with highlights and lowlights (espec in the front blond section which is the same color as her skin). Get brighter, more polished makeup. Madison Hubbell has similar coloring and always has interesting hair and polished, pretty makeup. She looks like a star. Gracie's hair always looks fab. Imho Bradie just needs more visual "oomph".

I think only Alysa with the triple axel can challenge her at this point.

What about Karen Chen? Has she finally resolved her boot issues? I haven't seen many events yet this season, so I may have missed her.

I'm assuming she's still competing.

I don't know if she can challenge Bradie for the top, but if she lands her triple axle, I think Starr Andrews could really make an impact this year.

Karen is just coming back to skating after being injured all of August and most of September.

Karen was injured for about 2 months. In a boot and all. She seemed pretty optimistic at Champs Camp despite being injured, if that means anything. According to her instagram she just got out of her boot a few days ago and just said yesterday that she'll start skating soon.

I don't really expect her to have a good gp season considering all of this (would love for her to surprise me!) but she might could do well at nationals and get a world's spot.

I don't think anyone is a threat to Bradie. Especially if she does well in the GP. She'll have reputation judging on her side and I don't think anyone will be able to overcome that (deservedly or not)

Bradie has shown herself to be a consistent skater. You can't say that for either Ting or Alysa. Some performances are good, some not so good.

I am really excited to see Bradie progress she could be the Gracie we anticipated or at least a Kimmie Meisner. I can see a world title - maybe this year is perfect. Kaetlyn who doesn't have the tech package anyways is gone; Gracie is just coming back, Evgenia is going over a radical makeover, had some injuries too and seems to be like Mao - strugglingcorrectingthe edge and all, then you have Alina who has physically grown a lot in a few months, Pogo is just coming back, the other Russian girls are sgruggling Polina T, Elena R - Liza T might make it interesting. Then you have the Japanese ladies = who have shown Bradie could be what the Americanshave been waitingfor and bring back the US domination. she seems tough, competitive, hard working, smart and has ambition. Short termwise, thisear seemstoberightforsomeoneto make their move.
