2018-2019 GP Assignments

My point, it won´t be any good to not to use RC spot. Another skater that at this moment doesn´t have or only have one GP could take it. They can find another kind of way to remember Denis.

I can see why ISU would that, he is irreplaceable after all. There could be backlash if they do.

I can’t imagine any skater in that spot not saying that they weren’t carrying Denis’s memory close to their heart and expressing that they’d rather have Denis skating than the spot for themselves. But I think quietly not filling the spot disrespects Denis’s spirit and it also makes his passing easier to ignore — if no one fills the spot, no one has to mention that X is a replacement for Denis, [20 second commentary bio], a talent taken from us too soon. Which is even more unfortunate. I’m dragging my boyfriend through the GPs for his first time, and absent some kind of contextual clue from commentary, he’s not going to know the inside baseball unless I go out of my way to explain.

There’s absolutely no reason not to fill the spot and have the exhibition finale be more somber than usual as a tribute to Denis. What keeps those who have passed from being diminished to gauzy memories is speaking of their death aloud, rather than trying to elide the topic. Fill the spot as a celebration of Denis’s life and say it.

It’s the SB list on the statistics page of the ISU.

Basically anyone who is active and doesn’t eat have two spots.

Jun is next in line then I think Nam.

It seems a little silly though not to have an easily viewable list of skaters eligible to to compete on the GP (without two spots) and then rank them by their qualifying scores. To expect people to do the math themselves wouldn’t rank high on my user friendly experience survey for any of you User Experience tech nerds out there reading this ;)

Part of me thinks it’s so that when people get skipped over it’s so you really have to know skating to notice.

So to get on the substitute list you have to have a season’s best score of at least a certain amount?

I wish newcomer Julie Froetscher were on the list, she’s rapidly improving. Or Hannah Miller, but I don’t think she has a high enough SB score. Probably not. Ladies’ names I expect names to be on the list are names like Alexia Paganini, Kailani Crane; they could get an invite because they do not “pose a threat of winning a medal”, to put it bluntly.😕

Paganini will be at rostelecom.

I see now that they updated the website, last seasons SB scores seem to be gone.

Oh, I know, but is she also on the substitute list because she only has one assignment?

It’s supposed to be the next 10 SB.

However their are Russian/Japanese skaters higher that will get passed over due to quota.

I think the next 10 are likely;
Eunsoo
Hanul Kim
Courtney Hicks
Angela wang
Start Andrews
Xianging Li
Emmy ma
kailani craine
Ivett toth
Viveca Lindfors

Again I’m not 100% as the SB document is gone. Also this is skipping over Junoirs/Russia/Japanese skaters who are higher on the list.

Thanks!

So excited for the season!!!!

Thanks for compiling all the PB scores for us! Looking at them makes me a bit more bitter about Eunsoo & Junhwan! Hopefully they both get another spot. I'm crossing my fingers
