2019-20 GP Series: Entries announced

02 (16) 187.95 Tae Ok RYOM / Ju Sik KIM (PRK) – GP CHN
With Kostiukovich/Yalin maybe not competing due to injury, Ryom/Kim seem an obvious choice for Skate America... except if there's some visa issues.

DPRK, North Korea that is, with the current political climate a 'visa problem' seems very likely. Has DPRK fed even applied? Their pair was in Germany and did quite well there, and obediently returned back home.
Athletes and/or officials deflecting is always a problem and denying them an entry visa is the obvious solution.

And now the eligible pairs to replace Zabijako/Enbert at GP FRA:

01 (14) 189.53 Polina KOSTIUKOVICH / Dmitri YALIN (RUS)
02 (16) 187.95 Tae Ok RYOM / Ju Sik KIM (PRK) – GP CHN
03 (26) 166.95 Ekaterina ALEXANDROVSKAIA / Harley WINDSOR (AUS) – GP USA
04 (29) 164.10 Camille RUEST / Andrew WOLFE (CAN) – GP USA
05 (33) 159.54 Laiken LOCKLEY / Keenan PROCHNOW (USA)
06 (35) 157.28 Audrey LU / Misha MITROFANOV (USA) – GP RUS
07 (36) 157.12 Lina KUDRIAVTSEVA / Ilia SPIRIDONOV (RUS)
08 (37) 153.99 Lana PETRANOVIC / Antonio SOUZA-KORDEIRU (CRO)
09 (38) 153.70 Zoe JONES / Christopher BOYADJI (GBR)
10 (39) 151.21 Nica DIGERNESS / Danny NEUDECKER (USA)

Seems like Katia and Harley would be next in line.
In saying that- i am becoming increasingly worried for them- they are probably not progressing at the rate they were hoping for.

Ryom/Kim didn't go to Four Continents last season when it was in the US, so I can't imagine they'd be allowed to go to Skate America.

They are already competing at Skate America, so they can't get that spot. They would be possible for the French spot.

I doubt Ryom/Kim could get a US visa in time, if they were even allowed to go. So maybe K/S.

I guess Russian Fed. knew that there will be a problem with Zabijako/ Enbert. That's maybe why they didn't send Kostiukovich/ Ialin to JGP. It's very likely that they'll replace Z/E.

No, Kostiukovich/Ialin had issues with growth and/or injury. And they can't take these Grand Prix spots anyway, because they don't have senior TES minimums.

They don't need senior tech minimums for the GP. That's just for ISU Championships. The GP minimums are based on total score. Here's the details from the announcement:

Each entrant to the six events of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series must meet a minimum total score
from ISU Events (GP, JGP, Championships, and ISU Challenger Series Events) of the previous season.

No, Kostiukovich/Ialin had issues with growth and/or injury. And they can't take these Grand Prix spots anyway, because they don't have senior TES minimums.

No need to have senior TES in order to skate in a GP, but a total score from last season or this season :

"The minimum total score from ISU Events for this season is 3/5 of highest score per discipline at the ISU World
Figure Skating Championships 2019:
Men 194.05
Ladies 142.50
Pair Skating 140.90
Ice Dance 133.59
Skaters/Couples who have scored at least the above mentioned limit in an ISU Championships, ISU Grand
Prix of Figure Skating and Final (Senior or Junior) or ISU Challenger Series Competition between July 1st
,
2018 and June 20, 2019 are eligible for selection into the Grand Prix events 2019/20 or in the alternate list.
Skaters/Couples, placed in the top 75 Season’s Best (season 2018/19) are placed on the alternate list.
However those who need to score the minimum Grand Prix score as listed above can do so in the ISU
Challenger Series 2019/20."

And I've got my answer for the Alternates list : the list is from the 2018/19 season and won't be updated.

He doesn't have a substitute; that's not how the senior GP works. Skate Canada will choose someone from the list of eligible skaters to fill the spot he's vacated.

And does anyone know who the eligible skaters are atm, like what was posted above for the pairs?
