People said the same about Nathan. Instead it was Jason, Max, Mirai, Polina, Adam, Denis, Karen, & Hanyu who faced serious injuries over the next several seasons. Anna and Kaetlyn had broken legs, yet they were back out there on the ice trying their hardest stuff. It's Ting who is apparently injured now. Is injury a very real hazard in this sport? Yes. But I don't think we're in a position to say who has regard for an athlete's health based on the jumps they are attempting. Quite often learning and mastering a skill while athletes are young is a good time to do it. Trying to do so later, after one's body is not so quick to heal, can be harder on it. We have every reason to believe that Alysa is driven to learn these jumps. Look at her role models. She loves the Russian ladies with their big jumps. So here she goes, whether we are ready or not.
Will she lose them before she's a senior? She could absolutely lose them. As I've said about Trusova as well. I don't have huge expectations. We've had one senior lady land a quadruple jump in competition thus far. One. And very few ladies remain Tursynbaeva's size three years into their senior career. Ladies grow, and many do lose the ability to rotate their jumps. (Even the amazing Mao Asada struggled with this challenge most of her life). It happens to a vast number of athletes. But Alysa probably has a better shot at mastering & keeping these jumps than someone who doesn't have them at all.
